Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Install uaos this spring and now i run over' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check dipstick first, and confirm' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The real problem/concern on the 2004 Carrera ( actually on mid 2002+ when compared to the 99, 2000, 2001 models ) is that Porsche lowered the oil level by 1/2 qt, and if you are running at 1/2 full gauge/dipstick, you are running 1 qt less than the 996.1 cars with the same engine architect...This was done a bull**** way to address the AOS problem instead of improving the AOS System..
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

When I 1st got my 2004 996.2 I always had my dash gauge on start up show I was at full when cold and when warm up and driven it would go down and back up. My 1st oil change was done at 73k miles and now Im at 75,450. I noticed my 1st low oil warning light last week when I driving around and was is this a druck pressure false reading with the start up gauge? I started it again and oil showed 2 bars above the low oil reading mark on the dash start up. The next morning checked the dipstick and while it wasnt in middle as the photo below, it was just below that mark and start up gauge was 2 bars abovve the low reading mark.
I have been driving around for a week since this happened and havent had the low oil warning on start up, I checked the oil again cold just a few minutes ago and it is at the same mark as it was a week ago cold and again start up gauge is 2 bars above the low oil mark.
I did call my Indy up and asked what grade he put in my oil change, since its not on the paperwork he gave me. 0-40 Mobile 1 Syn, was going to pick up a quart and a put in a pint as per the Indy, just for my well being and knowing these cars can burn oil. Im also in Az and would rather the car have enough oil than be low. Wanted the ask, is the middle were the oil should be when cold or am I ok where I am now, a little below it?
Only check when the car has been sitting overnight, cold, and on a flat surface. Check dipstick first, and confirm that reading is close to the gauge. I keep mine about 1/2 way on the dipstick, but you can run it anywhere between add and full if you want. Do not overfill (I add in 1/4-liter increments).

Many a 996 engine has failed due to this ( especially on the track) ....
But if you drive gingerly as most 996 drivers do,no need to obsess over this...There is a LOT of oil in there and the gauges can and do fail, and the oil pressure sender unit does give intermittent loss of signals...
