I found videos on how to replace a bushing in the Turbo / GT3 / GT2 transmission, but for the G96.00 / G96.01 it looks like there is only a seal and no replaceable bushing?

Will replacing the seal help with the excess movement, or do I need to replace the back half of the transmission case, or am I wrong and there is a replaceable bushing / sleeve like there is for the G96.50 / G96.88 / G96.96 trasnsmissions?

Certainly would be nice if the G96.01 came with a replaceable bearing like that one, but it would be suitable to use (most likely) after a little machine shop work on the old case.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

While doing a motor swap I noticed that the shift lever on the transmission has some play in it, like the video below: You Tube I found videos on how to replace a bushing in the Turbo / GT3 / GT2 transmission, but for the G96.00 / G96.01 it looks like there is only a seal and no replaceable bushing? Will replacing the seal help with the excess movement, or do I need to replace the back half of the transmission case, or am I wrong and there is a replaceable bushing / sleeve like there is for the G96.50 / G96.88 / G96.96 trasnsmissions?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Follow up question in case I need to replace the back half of the case, does any rennlister have a blownup gear box they want to part out? Another idea would be to take it to a machine shop and drill the box to accept a sleeve.

POST 3Original post

That's what I would do. Install a bronze bushing, ream to size.

Certainly would be nice if the G96.01 came with a replaceable bearing like that one, but it would be suitable to use (most likely) after a little machine shop work on the old case. Planning on splitting the case this weekend to see what I'm working with.
