Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If the engine got wet by washing it or driving it in the rain, it would run poorly with misfires.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
I've had this a couple of times. It isn't repeatable. So I'll explain how it went down today.
I pulled the car from the garage and drove 1st/2nd gear gentle around the block (500m?) to park the car out the front of the house to wash it. The engine would have been running for a handful of minutes. Two? three tops. Water temp guage had not moved.
The car sat for around an hour as I gave it a quick bath. Front of the house is on an incline. So the car was pointing up the hill.
When I started the car it had a bit of a rough idle. It might of been around 600rpm? maybe 650? A couple of blips didn't help. Felt like it needed a little choke.
So I selected 1st gear and trundled down the road to put the car back in the garage. Once the engine had see 2k RPM it started idling just fine.
Engine is in excellent condition. 5,000k since a full refresh/build. In 3,500km it has consumed 100mL of oil, maybe 200mL tops. New MAF. New air filter. New sparkies
thanks
Unfortunately these cars dont tolerate short, cold starts. The DME enriches the mixture during cold starts and the extra fuel tends to not burn completely. Shutting off a cold engine and then restarting starts this process all over again thus affecting your idle.
Next time run it to the store to pick up a refreshing beverage as a treat. Then wash it. You get a fun beverage and your Porsche doesnt get loaded up with extra fuel in the engine and oil.
And it probably smoked like crazy too? Any time I take my car out of garage for washing, I take it for a 5 or 10 minute drive before and after. I do it to not experience what you described. First time it happened, I googled, and it was recommended to never just back it out....
IMHO, it could be cracked coil packs. I had the same problem on my 2nd 996. If the engine got wet by washing it or driving it in the rain, it would run poorly with misfires.
