Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also noticed that my engine lid fan was running after every drive for 20 minutes even though temps were normal - turns out that the temp sensor between the intake manifold had fallen down closer to the head and was reading the temps there; the gasket was nowhere to be found.

I will run my inspection camera and try to get a view - if it is this difficult to see just wonder how hard it will be able to put it in place and bolt it in

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found this in my engine bay - 996-347-747-02 - and it is listed as part 17 on the porsche parts diagram but does not show where it bolts into. It is a power steering line support bracket. any pics of one installed would be greatly appreciated so I can reinstall it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

would you happen to have a pic of where it is bolted into - would be easier to locate and find the 2 open bolt holes

POST 4Original post

If you follow the power steering line coming down in front of the passenger side intake manifold, you will see the two bolt hole, but the A/C comp. could be in the way of a visual.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will run my inspection camera and try to get a view - if it is this difficult to see just wonder how hard it will be able to put it in place and bolt it in

POST 6Original post

I think this is what you are looking for. The air conditioner compressor is at the left of the photo. Hope this helps. Mark

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Mark! So if I am seeing this correctly it is bolted beneath the compressor mounting and the bolts have to be in place. Let me check this out tomorrow - no wonder I never was able to find open threaded holes...

POST 8Original post

Im interested in the rest of the story. How did this just end up in the engine bay off the engine? Did someone do some work on it and left it off? Where in the engine bay was it?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think it was left out years ago during an engine out service. it was lodged between the muffler and the body and was found by my local mechanic during other services. It just makes you wonder. Also noticed that my engine lid fan was running after every drive for 20 minutes even though temps were normal - turns out that the temp sensor between the intake manifold had fallen down closer to the head and was reading the temps there; the gasket was nowhere to be found. Replaced the gasket and inserted the sensor in the proper place and it only runs when necessary. As our cars age more and more things just need to be addressed, takes someone sharp to notice when things are wrong or missing - or a problem just pops up. The only positive part is that since they are so old and so many made just about every issue has been addressed already by someone else!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now that I know where the part goes - the trick is reinstalling it! Do I just take off the airbox, remove the 1 bolt for the compressor that goes through to the block, remove the 2 screws that hold it in place and then place this bracket in place and install the 2 bolts and then the one compressor bolt? Or do I have to loosen the other 2 compressor bolts to allow clearance? Imagine it must have been difficult to put this together without the bracket for bolt clearance issues...
