I just installed the Magnaflow direct fit, around $2k for the pair, from Car id, Shipped fast, fit well, sound is a little much for my old ears, as I did the Fister mod early in my ownership.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone. Im looking at possibly buying a 99 996 carrera. It looks to be maintained fairly well (add states theres no bore scoring or IMS issues and could use a tune up. Id be getting a PPI if it goes that far to verify) but theres one glaring item that has me taking a pause. The cat has been deleted and the eng MIL is on for the cats having left the chat. Is there anything I should be looking for or concerned w/? Itll prob make it run rich as hell w/ no tuning and if its dumping too much fuel will that make it a higher risk for bore scoring? thanks for any help or info.

POST 3Original post

There seeto be an expensive issue get a PPI first

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A PPI is a definite. Just curious if a cat delete could cause another issue like dumping too much fuel. I know these things are sensitive to oil dilution. If its super rich its not burning all that fuel. Can that hurt the cylinders or is that more like a leaking fuel issue from a bad injector?

Bore scoring is a leaking injector issue. The ECU should have no issues with no cats. But if it were me, I'd reinstall the cats, or preferably go to sport cats.
