Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone. Recently acquired a wonderful 996, and trying to fix the little things. Noticed the cruise control doest work : if i press the little button on the commuter, i've got the light on the dash, but if i push, pull, press or whatever on the commuter, nothing happens. Do you guys know what could it be? Also, my rear spoiler switch is missing, and i've got the rear spoiler light on when i start, and it goes away quickly when i drive. Still trying to find out why i dont have that button and why it doesnt work. Thank you for reading, have a nice day!

Welcome! What model of 996? Post some pictures when you have a chance. We love pics! The cruise control will not work when the clutch power spring is not installed. If the brake pedal switch (plunger sticking) is malfunctioning, that can also cause cruise control to not work. The parts diagrams (PET) and clutch helper spring posts have the visuals of what these components look like. Are you asking about the spoiler switch on footwell fuse panel cover missing? There are several threads here covering many types of spoiler errors.

Hello, thank you for answering. It's a very early build 996 C2 from 07/1997, i'll put some pics at the end. i'll dig into the clutch helper spring, but it kind feels like the commuter is stuck, like if it wasn't made to move, its pretty stiff. Yeah i also asked about the swtich missing, i saw a post about the switch getting loose and falling into the carpet, i'll look into that. I mentioned it on this threat because i've read that the spoiler functionning and cruise control can be linked. Heres's my beauty:

I was in the same situation but it just started last week. Pulled out my PIWIS for troubleshooting and determined that the plunger on the RED clutch switch was not long enough to close the circuit. Pushed the clutch pedal down and pulled the plunger out a few clicks and that solved the issue. For what its worth, I do not have the power assist spring on my clutch pedal and cruise worked just fine.
