Hi All, first sunny day after the winter and it turns out my roof doesnt open fully anymore. It stops 2/3rds of the way there, and when I keep pressing the rocker button there are switch clicking sounds coming from both the front fuse box, and the back of the car, but it doesnt move anymore. It closes correctly again from this position. I have already refilled the hydraulic liquid which was cery low, but it made no difference. Any ideas what else might be stuck? Why Is it stopping always in this exact same position? the car stood with no battery most of the winter if that makes a difference? thanks James

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It looks like its roughly in the service position, which kinda points to a lost calibration. If your battery went too low it might be causing the issue.. A recal may be in-store in the near future.
The answer was: front microswitch above rear view mirror stuck in closed position due to some old electrical tape debris from previous repair. Cost $200 in dealer diagnostic fee, 60 seconds fix poking around with the little finger 🙈
Thank you so much. I had this very same issue and it was also a wad of tape. You just saved me thousands of dollars in diagnostic and repairs. I had a mechanic look at it and he quoted me 6 hours at $180 per hour just to diagnose. I figured it was some type of switch but didn't know there was one up there. I feel that anyone with some experience with these convertibles would look there as part of a first look cursory check. The reason they put that wad of tape is that the windows won't go up unless the switch is pushed up. I just have to manually push the microswitch as I close the windows because the hook that's supposed to do that doesn't push it up enough. I wonder if someone installed the wrong latch mechanism. I any case, thank you so much for the Christmas gift! 😜

The cover on the hook is likely broken. Very common problem. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...87-01-01C-M100
That's it! I just have a bare hook. I'm a brand new owner of this 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera BTW. My first Porsche and I'm hooked. Not sure why the previous owner let so many little parts break and not fix. Thanks again!
Just make sure you search this site for installation instructions. There is a quicker way to install it by cutting a slot in the back of the hook instead of dismantling the whole latch mechanism.
