Adjustable aren’t prohibitively expensive and assure when you’re getting the setup dialed in the sway bar can be installed without pre-load as opposed to finding out during install the stock replacement links won’t work.

My initial plans were the glass smooth roads of Canberra Australia so I used the plus springs rates.

I'd recommend BC Racing + Swifts over anything else.

Overall, much better than the Votgland springs Bilstein B8 shocks, I tried first, Feal with out the plus springs I can't see you being up set about harshness.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Guys just picked up this clean speed yellow factory aero car. My question is which coilover is best for street use? Not looking for anything harsh. H&r or Feal suspension? I know i know ohlin and bilstein are better but im not looking to spend 3k.
Nice looking example, congrats on purchase!
What springs and dampers are on there currently?
Personally, I'd look into koni actives combined with the lowering springs your car currently has, by the looks of it.
Alternatively, H&R coilover set.
My experence with Feal 441+ was a good one. Run a search in this forum, and I'm not alone. My initial plans were the glass smooth roads of Canberra Australia so I used the plus springs rates. In Sydney where my job has taken me the roads are bumpier. Overall, much better than the Votgland springs Bilstein B8 shocks, I tried first, Feal with out the plus springs I can't see you being up set about harshness. Mine rides well on plus springs. Well done on on your car.
On a budget? I'd recommend BC Racing + Swifts over anything else. If you know what you're doing you can get most of the performance of a >$3k coilover set but it'll be more comfortable than H&R, Bilstein, Feal, Fortune Auto, and other cheaper brands. Slightly less comfy than a well-tuned KW twin tube.
Nice car Retrojay. No harm in taking your time in making decisions on what to do with the suspension and other items. Plenty of options at different price points and outcomes. Whether you like it or not, you will spend alot of money on the car over the next few years. Might as well do it right from the beginning.
So i think i am going with Feal coil overs, My question now is do i need new sway bar links/drop links ? Should i just replace the oem ones with new ones or a different brand?
Buy new links as the 20+yr old stuff needs replaced. I would also go as far as replacing all the rubber. Fcpeuro has kits but if u just want to do the links TRW is the oem with no porsche tax.
@TexSquirrel
is the guy to talk to. I believe he has his 996 set up with Feals and has set up many 996s with Feals. Maybe he will see this and respond.

I would go with the adjustable.
This is what I would do. Unless there are some cross manufacturer part secrets that fit like I believe on E46 m3 you can use Hyundai drops links as they are the perfect size (I think) but if you don't care about cost just get adjustable, it makes it so much easier. MKIV GTI's need adjustable drop links to be slammed and it took me quite a while to figure that **** out as a kid after having axles basically grinding threw sway bars, young and dumb was fun.
While i agree with going with adjustable it just may not be needed. The front sway links attach to the upright so it will depend on the amount of drop. My car before c/o had a 1.5" drop spring and factory sway links so its possible. The rear shocks may have adjustable brackets that can help with lowering and preload like the ohlins?
Their website is a pile to say the least... after the new year rolls around I can call them. I've had BC make so many off-catalog kits for my oddball cars, I know they have the data and likely they've already got lower mounts welded up waiting to drop a cartridge in (but I'd use Redshift cartridges).
Maybe just me but I find it odd to respond to a post requesting coilover advice with the suggestion to buy from a company that doesnt make a kit for our cars and as far as I know, no one runs.
I have nothing against BC but maybe let some miles under a 996 happen, then suggest them.
Their 997 application is well-reviewed (disclaimer: for the price. always), we are just talking about needing a different lower mount for the 996 knuckles. I've built or consulted on high double-digit cars using BC's and all of them work great on the street, hence my confidence. The only reasons to shy away would be 1) serious motorsport use or 2) you have exacting NVH requirements, in which case you need a coilover system that uses rubber top hats instead of pillow *****.
If you don't believe me I'll simply make the kit happen lol. With that said, a review would have to be done by someone else driving my car, as my opinion is tainted.
Mostly commenting to sub to the thread & say congrats on the car! -- but I'm also making plans to install a Feal setup this winter with the associated adjustable sway/drop links.
Curious if there have been any new suggestions floating around besides the Tarett bits I've seen folks recommend in other threads, and any other things I should be having the shop look into.
