Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'd say get it running properly, get it registered, inspected, whatever else your local laws require and then have at it.
Leading evidence: 'Inspect whatever else your local laws require' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect whatever else your local laws require' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I will never daily drive this car, it will be used for spirited driving only then Ill pop it out and put it in a roller like a 997 or Cayman.

I'd look at it like this - you may enjoy it more by experiencing the change by adding the x-pipe later.

The only side effect I have been able to chase down is if the cats are not there, the supplemental air may run longer or even start up when sitting at a light trying to light the cats off.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know Im late with my video but Ive been in Mexico and have now got my wits back. Question is this. I have a special exhaust package for my 4.0 and was wondering if it matters whether or not I should start and break the car in with cats or does it even matter?
Heres a sneak peek. Shhh.

If you need to emission test it, I would do the initial break-in and driving with the cats.
Since it has been setting a while, I bet you do need to pass emissions and register it.
Cats are one less thing to worry about.
Then once past emissions and registration you can decide cat or catless.
If you have the CATs why risk it? You've come so far... I'd say get it running properly, get it registered, inspected, whatever else your local laws require and then have at it. Personally, I'd wait till the engine is broken in before I start messing with it.
I think because I know it wont be a problem, But like you said, I dont want to introduce risk so Im looking for a warm as fuzzy. Looking over the LN literature and videos, they want you to push it(just not to redline) so that everything wears in together. In fact Charles said if you have access to a dyno that it would speed up the break in. I translate that as, dont be delicate with your new engine.
I will never daily drive this car, it will be used for spirited driving only then Ill pop it out and put it in a roller like a 997 or Cayman. But I digress.
So you're touching on two separate points here. If you do indeed know that this won't be a problem then it's a bit of a moot question to begin with. I agree that you should follow the break in procedure that is dictated by LN. That said, if you follow their direction and happen to run lean or rich because of not running cats then you may have some issues - but you could also not. So again, goes back to the "are you willing to risk it?" I know you're probably dying to hear the car with the x-pipe. I'd look at it like this - you may enjoy it more by experiencing the change by adding the x-pipe later. It looks like you have aftermarket headers and mufflers so it's not like it won't sound good already. 4.0 displacement changes the tone as well. I'm replacing some of my exhaust and am taking this approach right now.
I built my 4.0 and cranked it right up with the same catless crossover exhaust you have. And I have cranked it up most everyday since with the same exhaust.
Mini cats for the downstream O2 sensors, so they don't throw a code.
Been almost 2 years now without ANY issue.
The only side effect I have been able to chase down is if the cats are not there, the supplemental air may run longer or even start up when sitting at a light trying to light the cats off.
Cant imagine thats an issue.. But you might get more popping if it's running with that bit of extra 02 being pushed in to the exhaust on deceleration.
