Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If the scratches are that deep, Id probably suggest wet sanding(3k) and using the lightest cutting possible.

I've always done the louvers by hand but I do use other things for hard to reach places.

But right now, I don't know what product can cut the paint surface to polish it out by hand, without having to use a power polisher to generate the heat in the paint surface.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The polishing compounds that I have aren't able get a good finish on the louvered portions when applied by hand. I can get enough heat with the orbital polisher and the compounds on larger parts, but I don't want to get the spinning wool pad near the edges for fear of burning edges and high spots. What compounds do you use by hand on the intricate areas for polishing?
Looking for ideas.
TIA

is pretty helpful in this department as well.
I agree that putting a standard sized wool pad on the louvered area would certainly cause hot spots and possibly strip the paint. If the scratches are that deep, Id probably suggest wet sanding(3k) and using the lightest cutting possible. Ive been eye balling a Rupes cordless that is a DA which will help with these smaller jobs. Have you considered a rotary attachment kit for your buffer? Adams sells one but Id search whatever would work for your sized chuck.

Adams also sells a full kit for less than 400.00 that comes with the kit above and a cordless buffer.
I've always done the louvers by hand but I do use other things for hard to reach places. I have attachments for drills and Dremels that can get into those nooks and crannies that the Rupes or Porter Cable are too big for.
This isn't the greatest pic but you can kinda see the drill and Dremel attachments.
Thanks SoCal911
Yeah, I went into this kinda figuring I'd be hand polishing these areas. I'd kick myself if I took a power buffer/polisher to the area and burned through the paint. But right now, I don't know what product can cut the paint surface to polish it out by hand, without having to use a power polisher to generate the heat in the paint surface.
By the way, what polish are you using with these tools? And what product do you use when you go with hand polishing?
Id definitely be leery of wool or any drill attachment there. You could try a 3 pad on an orbital, but that still may sling out compound leaving a bunch of little white spots inside that may take more time to clean up than just doing it by hand.
