Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Its confirmed, Bank 2 Cylinder 6 has bore scoring after recent cold snap. Not sure why this happends, but I can state there was no noise until I used the car in the recent cold weather, over January 2023 in the uk. Strangely the noise does not become noticeable until the water temperature reaches 60 degrees. Also pushing the accelerator to increase the revs, decreases the noise level.

POST 2Original post

That certainly looks pretty bad. Is it really possible for this to happen just from driving during the cold weather in January 2023? I would think bore scoring of this extent would happen over a longer time period, but I am not an expert.

POST 3Original post

Are you scoping from the sump or spark plug side? Looks like spark plug side..

POST 4Original post

That's bad... Stage 3 and possible stage 4. This has been in the works for a long while, the cold snap probably just gave you the most notable symptoms.

Quiet possible its been in progress a while. Im getting ready for the engine out and getting a local Porsche specialist to do the engine rebuild. Bits Im going to replace (any other ideas?)Oil filler neck AOS IMS bearing RMS seal Brake pipes Coolant hoses and aircon hoses if corroded.

So a few bits to replace when engines out, any other suggestions?-Oil filler neck AOS IMS bearing RMS seal Corroded Brake pipes Damaged Coolant hoses.

POST 8Original post

That didn't just happen ,it just became apparent.

POST 9Original post

Normal bore scoring starts at the bottom. That looks like the piston is taping the head and knocking down carbon into the gap and draging it down....Notice the streaks go up past the ring wear line... You should scope from the bottom to see what it looks like down there...
