Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My lift is finally getting installed this week. Going to drop engine to put in UAOS, change injectors and vacuum hoses. Don't have an engine stand. Going to get either a flat dolly or a lift table. Can the engine sit indefinitely (probably 3-4 weeks) on the oil pan?

POST 2Original post

Yes should be fine , I use a motorcycle jack and it sits each side of the sump plate , I usually drop the box aswel , you doing that , might aswel do the clutch and the ims and the flywheel and the engine mounts and the gearbox mount and the injectors and the AOS and the water pump lol

POST 3Original post

It should be fine supporting it's own weight. You just don't want to support the engine, transmission and vehicle from the sump plate! Also don't scoot it around while it is on the sump plate.

POST 4Original post

Ive done it without issue- one thing that Ive done as a bit of an extra precaution is put a piece of plywood with foam on top inbetween the engine And motorcycle jack to distribute the weight through the whole surface.

POST 6Original post

If youre doing the IMSB, the tensioners are already coming out, and they do wear/collapse A new Bosch starter is so cheap on Amazon, might as well swap it too. Its an easy rabbit hole to go down, but youre going to hate yourself if something fails later on that you couldve easily accessed with the engine out.
