Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use a fuel additive for the injectors every now and then
Leading evidence: 'Use fuel additive' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best site' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace (every 5k mi.)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

In addition to this, do timely oil changes (every 5k mi.).
Replace frequently and your car is warmed and driven

Suggestion
If the right oil grade is used and changed frequently and your car is warmed and driven to redline at once every use you will never need it
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I believe the consensus here is; Use an oil thats formulated with an acceptable wear package to begin with (as opposed to adding separately). In addition to this, do timely oil changes (every 5k mi.). One big caveat to this is, once wear damage has been done theres no amount of additives etc. thats going to help you - just make sure that youve got enough oil at all times
^^^While its a little different, the same can still be said (ie: get the. best gas you can to start with - Shell Nitro Plus 93).The problem with gas being, that you cant always get the good stuff Injector cleaner once in a while is fine - in fact it might even be a good idea, just dont overdo it.
Who has the actual quantifiable data on oil additives and fuel additives, which are two different things. More importantly, what to use, when to use it, how to use it, what to be aware of, warnings?
Jake did a video. Plenty of videos on YouTube. Lots of opinions. Anybody ever do a quantifiable wrap-up?
Or are we all flying blind on this?
I trust what the guy that's the best 996 engine builder on the planet has to say, Jake Raby...
Driven DT-40 at 4K OCI for street use, DON'T ADD ANYTHING!!!
If a M96 has made it to high mileage does it really need additive? My friend just bought a 192,000 mile 2003 C2. He drove it 2000 miles last month. I mean it's just meant to work via status quo.
Now what we don't know is if they added additives
Only use oils which is "seal neutral". High milage oils can contains an additive to swell seals to reduce oil leaks, this might kill the IMS bearing seals, not good. I've tried plenty of different oils tracking oil pressure/temp etc, looking in to the fine details (as far as possible, as Porschetech3 say, all the data is not available).
Mobile 1 0w40 FS (what Porsche recommends)
I've found to give the best balance between all parameters I've looked at, it's a solid choice. And I will echo what others say: Additives should not be used.
I've been putting a can of ceratec in after the first oil change out of storage every year (not subsequent ones). I've had good experiences with this product in the past and it goes into my daily 4runner as well which will likely never die. For the record I use Liquimoly oil. My engine is overall in good health (no metal particles of concern in filter, bores look healthy and scoped twice in my ownership).
That's similar to what I was doing before changing to DT-40. I was using Liquimoly and putting ceratec in each oil change. Been on just DT-40 for almost 2 years now.
