Okay, so I won't restrict the airflow by using a 2-inch (51mm), and downsize?
Leading evidence: 'Use 2-inch (51mm), and downsize' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 2-inch (51mm), and downsize' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Ive considered the gundo hack, but I would like to turn it off for highway use, without the need of ear protection.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi!
I am cosnidering a cutoff valve thats vacuum actuated. My exhaust is 54mm, but the size of the pipe I can get for the vacuum actuated one is 63.5mm.
Is it possible to upsize the exhaust for about 30cm, and then downsize back to original? Will this effect something?
Will look something like this, with the Y splitter for the cutout on the wide part:

(disregard the dots)
Thanks,
Marius

Im planning on having it closed for the most part, but would like a fun button for the weekends
)
The only advice Id give is try to get the highest quality components - stainless steel, galvanized, coated, whatever. Even the bolts, gaskets, etc. Because those valves can corrode and stop working after a short time due to rust. The better the components, the longer it will last.
Thanks a lot Mike!

Ill check that the parts are stainless steel, thanks for the tip.
Ive already figured that I need the vacuum actuated ones, because the electric motors would fail due to the heat, I suppose.
Cant find too much information on cutout valves on 996. Is it just hard to make fit, or is it a big no-no?
thanks,
Marius
Thats the best part of the Gundo/ Fister: on the highway, the car isnt loud. Its not loud anytime the throttle is relatively closed. WOT is a different story though. I would see if someone that has the hack can give you a ride. Its not like a muffler-delete, which is LOUD. Its more like the PSE.
I would research the PSE option and try to reproduce that if you can. Thats the Porsche factory option you are looking to do.
Mike is right! i did the Gundo hack and you only notice it when really on the throttle and it is not so obnoxious (in the cab) that you need any type of hearing protection. It's just a nice, throaty roar
