Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just collected my new car, 2002 996 C4 Cabrio, love the car, but I don't know what aftermarket plug and button that is located on my lower dashboard? I was pretty sure it s a aftermarket USB, but it is not . when pressing the small button in the larger round thing, the LED does not flash or nothing happens? I have to admit, I am connector geek myself.. but this one I have googles, image searched.. no clue? Old Phone charger?

POST 3Original post

That "batwing" trim piece pops right out. Look behind and see if there an obvious connecting point for the wired, or anything hidden behind there.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

"Maybe a power plug for a radar detector?" I doubt it is as in Europe radar decteros are VERY rare to non existent. But sure, will dig into it!

POST 5Original post

Is there voltage coming from the two contacts? It is hard to tell from the picture, is there a slot for something like a cord to plug into or is it flat? Is it magnetic? It almost looks like some sort of magsafe connection you'd find on a macbook for charging. edit: something like this.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/38436046431...oaAvXvEALw_wcB

POST 6Original post

Was it owned by a woman maybe it was for a vibrator LOL sorry looks like a power connection for a phone

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think I cracked it... After some research a friend told me it is a immobilizer.. Used a lot in Italy were there care originall came from. Not w I want a batwing with holes for the seat heater, is that possible? Or only flat and need to make the holes myself?
