Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Scott Tucker(owner of Level 5 Motorsports) had the funds/resources to build any car he wanted.
He built this 1k+hp beast but decided to graft on the mk1 fried egg headlights.
Interesting...
I can't say I saw this kind of fried egg favoritism EVAR. LOL
I've always said I like the .1 headlights over the .2s. While I get the "OMG Boxster!" complaints, it at least looks like a fluid design. The .2s, to me, feel like a panicked redesign where they were limited in just how much they could change. The pointy bits just don't fit with any other part of the car and seem to only differentiate it from the Boxster look.
I also get a kick on how they are going back to the egg look with other car models, and in a way (personally) how weird the rounder headlights look on the current 911.
+996. I felt the mk1 was a more proactive design while mk2 was more reactionary based on feedback and criticism from the public and they did whatever they had to do to quiet everyone down.
I maybe crazy but the aftermarket turbo bumper with the mk1 lights just seem to flow really great IMO.
Yeap, you're crazy
I like the turbo bumper on the Turbo, but I go back and forth on the C4S. For the MkIs it's the AK/GT3 bumper that hits the mark to me. The non-aero bumper just seems unfinished and contributes to the Boxster-ness of the look. The aero bumper finishes the lines nicely.
Of course I say all this being of the opinion that an unmolested factory MkI Aero (Taco) car is the best looking of any 911 since that's what we own
My opinion on the 996 attractiveness scale:
Turbo
C4S
GT3
MK1 with aero
MK2 plain
MK1 plain
Although the changes are subtle, the difference between the MK2 stock bumpers is pretty significant when you put it next to the MK1. I prefer the MK2 lights as they seem to have a little more aggressiveness in their design.
Not a lot of difference between the APPEARANCE of a Mk I aero and GT3. I'd put them both right below the Turbo and just above the C4S. At first, back around 1999, I didn't like the Mk I headlights, but have since come to prefer them, especially with the Mk I aero. I think that time will be kind to the Mk I headlights.
Everything is cyclic and with the 991 lights getting more oval, you can only get so oval before you have to circle back around to a modified oval design like the fried eggs. It may not happen for 30+ years but it will eventually circle back around.
Yeah, hate to burst the Mk1 cheerleading squad here but it is a race car, the was mostly built with "eventuality of collision" in mind. Mk1 headlights are cheap relatively in comparison. Thus less cost to repair the car after said collision. Also notice that they have been de-ambered. More so the look of the RS
Although I can partly agree with that, if he wanted to keep it cheap and have gone with your reasoning, why add in the exclusive and expensive mk1 GT3-RS lights rather than the US spec amber mk1 versions? There's nothing cheap about this car as lot of dollars were poured into it. I doubt cost was the motivation in this build to put on the mk1 lights.
