Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there, I'm planning on purchasing a 996 from a Private Seller. The seller had provided photos of the under carriage, but since i'm a novice, I'm not quite sure what I should be looking for. Attached are photos of the under carriage, if you can take a look and see if you see anything that's damaged, corroded, rusted, etc. please let me know. Thanks in advance!
If you're a novice, I'd strongly recommend getting a pre-purchase inspection from a reputable independent Porsche mechanic.
Just looking at the underside doesn't tell you enough about the state of the engine and it's history.
My direct answer to your question, nothing odd here except the engine carrier is new (picture 2). I would ask the seller why that was replaced. Was the engine replaced?
The struts look original, so there will be a replacement in your future. But if I was looking to buy my first one, I would be more concerned about the number of owners and the maintenance history. Send us more information.
Yes i will be getting a proper PPI (Bore scoping, Oil analysis, paint Meter readings, etc..) but before doing that I'm doing my own homework.
The seller sent over 300+ photos and noticed that the undercarriage looks like this. I mean for a 2004 911 with 37K miles I guess it should look like this.
Thanks for your input.
Is this the Engine Carrier you mentioned? This car had 5 owners (including the current seller) and with service records. But nothing mentioned about new engine.n What do you think?
Damn - good eye on engine mount. Wonder if car's been hit. That engine mount is new. Exhaust actually looks new too.
At one point coolant leaked out of the water pump onto the hose left of it.
OP any accidents?
OP - Include an inspection of rear bumper bar area with cover off for the PPI. Sway brace mounts look newer than the bar. Newer cats and pipes than the manifolds. New carrier. Youll want to check for signs of a previous love tap.
HatchetF15 is right. The sway bar bushings may or may not be new, but the bolts holding them in place don't come stock with red dye. You can see these clearly in the picture where you circled the grease on the rear tire. The bushing is just to the left of the white circled area. The two bolts are aligned vertically and have red dye on them. Its not uncommon, in a rebuild or extensive repair to color the top of the bolt after it has been torqued in place just so you don't wonder the next day if you torqued it in or not. If you were just doing the bushings and nothing else, there are only four bolts so you wouldn't bother marking them. There is a similar bushing on the other side.
