Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If they are already doing the valve covers, you could pull the sump pan, inspect the screen intake of the oil pump, and just check for any debris.

Otherwise, the shop can also check for cam deviation if that wasnt already done.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all! I'm so happy to be the newbie! I've been studying Porsche now for 18 years and my dream has come true! Steer me to headlight improvement. Aftermarket or split my case for all new lighting guts? Does anyone even do that if I mail my headlights out? By the way, the rims are original without a scratch. 73k miles young. Pulls hard. IMS, rear seal, new clutch, new alarm box. Getting valve covers resealed tomorrow, new tubes, plugs, and all the trimmings. Fun fun. vroom. I had a Post-purchase inspection. So glad I did. Any other work vice while the seals are getting done?
Thanks,
MB
Congrats! Beautiful car. As headlights go , keeping it 996 OEM style is my preference. Its what makes the 996 unique. Updating the bulbs and refinishing the plastic cover is common though. Its easy enough to do yourself. Its so hard to resist the upgrade bug as there is so much to choose from. I say drive it for a couple of months first, figure out what really bugs you and then go after it.
could always do stereo/head unit if not already done. A satisfying early update as it modernizes things pretty easily for car play nav and tunes.
Air filter and cabin filter. Also, from one cab owner to another, if the clamshell ever only unlatches on one side, do not attempt to help it manually. The clamshell is thin as paper and bends easily.
996.1 or 996.2? There are kits for retrofitting HIDs. A member of this forum is a US distributor.

EDIT: the kits do not require the lens to be removed, at least for the 996.2. I put bi-xenons in my car.
Congrats on the car!
Nice car and welcome!
If they are already doing the valve covers, you could pull the sump pan, inspect the screen intake of the oil pump, and just check for any debris. The mechanic can view the condition of the swirl pots as well. If this has never been done before, you might find some small pieces that have been in there from the very beginning. You could also have the bores inspected for bore scoring from the bottom area here.
Otherwise, the shop can also check for cam deviation if that wasnt already done. If there is no record of fluids being changed, such as coolant, transmission oil, brake fluid, etc., you could have the fluids changed out. I did some of the fluid changes myself, as this car is pretty easy and enjoyable to work on.
