Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all. What coolant would you recommend and can I use it with our without dilution. I'm in the Northeast and drive in anything from 25 degrees to 95 degrees or so. Thanks very much.

POST 2Original post

Porsche coolant, or red Pentosin coolant (mixed one bottle to make one gallon of coolant)

POST 3Original post

If you have VW or Audi dealer close they also have the oem.

POST 4Original post

Porsche OEM coolant only mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Do not mix types of coolant! If you are unsure what's in there, do a full coolant flush.

POST 6Original post

Most NAPA and Advance Auto carry the Pentosin and you can get distilled water at your local CVS or Walgreens. Do not use tap water. I also use a surfactant. It simply makes the coolant "wetter" so it coats surfaces better. I think there are Brand X of these at auto parts stores. I use Joe Gibbs Racing Driven CSP Coolant System Protector (12oz Bottle) 50030 (lnengineering.com) from our sponsors.

POST 7Original post

I used Zerex A40 in mine when I rebuilt it. It has the same chemistry as Porsche coolant and is working well. Its lower cost and available anywhere. As mentioned above, I flushed the system and refilled with 50/50 coolant and distilled water using an Airlift system. It cools better than it was before I rebuilt the motor. The PO had pit green coolant in the system.
