Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

"Greetings earthlings." A few weeks ago I was searching YouTube for anything that could help me with dropping the engine on my 996. I came across a series of videos by "Man in a Garage". His description of his channel: "Can someone with no skills or experience rebuild a Porsche 911 engine and bring this car back to life?" This playlist covers the day the car arrived to (Hopefully) fixing it and driving. I am not a mechanic, I am doing this for fun to share the experience and encourage others to do the same. The series so far has almost 50 videos. He's getting pretty close to getting his 996 going again. I highly recommend binging on this series if this is your thing. Let me know what you think. - Mig

POST 2Original post

Thanks for this. Having trod that path myself (with the gracious help of another non-professional Rennlister) a few years ago, this is particularly interesting.

POST 3Original post

Man in a Garage, 997 Dad, Boost Brother Garage all have attempted this on their own with varying results (youtube channels), some good and some not so good. You will see a lot of do's and don'ts, good luck. I forgot to mention that Yogi's Garage is getting ready to drop his motor and has a good YT channel also.

POST 4Original post

I like the Man in a Garage videos. Just an average guy trying to get the car running again. He's been getting a good deal of help from Hartech guys, which has been nice to see. Wishing him all the best and look forward to seeing the car start up. There is always more than one way to do something and I appreciate him showing some of the mistakes he made.

POST 5Original post

Finn is the best! Now with his best friend Delta too. He creates good entertaining content and I have enjoyed watching since the beginning. I encourage everyone to support his channel, it does not cost much and it keeps him in dust-free wipes!
