Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hey guys. Have a new to me 2004 C4S. This stupid US spec suspension looks like a 4x4 to me so I've been in contact with Gert about getting the RoW C4S suspension. The Euro cars look the perfect height for my taste. H&R is a little too slammed for me. It looks like the most cost effective option is the RoW springs for $500ish, paired with Bilstein B6's. Total around $1350. Think I could recoup some of that by selling my factory C4S suspension? Car has 58k miles, still handles on a dime, and all checks out on a visual inspection.
Bleh. That's not what I expected to hear. I figured I could maybe get $3-400 for it all. It's not like its garbage as its still functioning well on the car its on. Additionally, I assumed with it being the "Turbo" suspension, some standard Carrera owner may want it to upgrade to.
The Turbo and C4S have similar geometries on the wide-body configuration. The shocks/springs are right for that geometry and weight. The turbo and C4S also have a different front knuckle for the front drive axle. The C2's have a different narrow body geometry and weight.
That said I only have a C4S, so couldn't give you a detailed side by side comparison, but the part numbers are distinctly different.
I'm also in the middle of replacing my suspension, and would love for the old parts to be worth something. I might offer them for the price of shipping of someone needs a component.
It's a very limited market. Most folks that are going to go through all the trouble to R&R the suspension are going to do a significant upgrade. As a reference, I could only fetch $250 for my stock Turbo suspension that only had 10K miles and that was about eight years ago.
Also, the same as C4... I have to agree with the others ie. value. Most folks if theyre looking to replace their suspension are either going to go with a new stock setup or aftermarket/coil overs. Its just too much work to put something with 50k+ miles on your car...
Where is bdronsick? We need him to gush about it and tell us why an "early 99" suspension is a special unicorn that's worth alot of money. Not that I have one of those...
FWIW, I sold a set of turbo shocks & springs with 30k miles on them last year for $250. New parts run $2400, so someone with a high mileage car might bite for 10 cents on the dollar.
