Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Test drove the car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drove the car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello! New member with a question about my '99 Porsche Carrera 4 Cab, which has been in my family since new but rarely driven. It was originally purchased by my dad at a dealer in Florida called Brumos and it has a sticker on it "signed" by Hurley Haywood and numbered. Apparently Mr. Haywood test drove the car before it was sold to my dad. Does this sticker and provenance add any value to the car if we decide to sell it?
The car has only about 15K miles on it, although it has always been serviced and well maintained.
Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
She looks like a true garage queen for sure. I dont know if that sticker will contribute to its value. What may be more relevant, is that you may need to show proof of maintenance regularity over 20 years to assuage concerns that the low mileage will lead to problems. Many folks like me would prefer a 45k mile example to a 15k mile example. And since yours is one of the most common colors and a cabriolet, its not likely someone will look at it as an investment car. Just my two cents.
Its getting harder and harder to find 996s with such low miles, that that is the main thing driving the cars value upwards.
As for Hurley Haywood, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in
1977
(
Porsche 936
),
1983
(
Porsche 956
) and
1994
(
Dauer 962 Le Mans
) and is tied as the most successful driver at the
24 Hours of Daytona
with 5 wins (1973, 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1991).

He won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1973 and 1981. He also drove in the 1980
Indianapolis 500
finishing 18th. He represented IMSA four times in the
International Race of Champions
(1986, 1989, 1992, 1995).

Barber Motorsports Park

This is not a car I would sell for awhile or even drive much at this point, as the value could very well continue to increase from where it is now.
Thank you for this. My dad is approaching 80 now, and the car is just not for him any more, and he didn't drive it much in the first place. We have tons of service records on the car, and most of the mileage is probably just going to a from the Porsche dealer for oil changes and other minor maintenance.
I'm sure a lot of guys have this dilemma, what to do with a pristine car that is associated with a certain time in your life that you don't really want to let go, but at the same time, what's the point in just having it under a car cover in a garage and rarely used.
To answer a previous question, the car is kept in western Connecticut, but registered in NY. Thanks.
Isnt this a perfect candidate for BaT? Or wait a few years and then auction it off?
15k miles, some history (even I was familiar with that name), tons of records; sounds like it would kill on BaT.
Im not sure if it adds any value but its pretty cool that its still there!
My 996 was originally purchased April 1998 from Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville Florida.
I think the (remote) connection to Brumos Racing is interesting.
Unfortunately mine doesnt have a Hurley Haywood sticker.
Just chiming in since I didn't see anybody post this - this Hurley Haywood sticker is a promotional thing that the Brumos dealership in Jacksonville has been doing for decades, and so while it is definitely a very cool regional thing that would be unique, say, in Los Angeles, I echo the others' sentiments and don't think it would add any value to an already amazing specimen of 996.
I would liken this to someone saying they bought their Jeep from John Elway in Denver - only it makes way more sense to buy a sports car from a racing driver. Cheers!
Yes, I've just discovered that site/service. Certainly looks better than eBay!
Thanks everyone for the comments. Seems like a great forum full of very knowledgable Porsche lovers.
