Welcome - as you were a VW mechanic I'm sure you can appreciate the value of proper tools - buy the proper tool from durametric - I have no affiliation but I do know fools who've bought 3 different eBay cables to only find out some quit working after 3 diagnostic sessions and some didn't work at all

lots and lots of posts on that topic. do a search that is NOT a real Durametric or PWIS cable. It is a cheap knockoff that uses old Durametric software Get a real Durametric and help support a really good company In any case, that is about 4 time the price of most of the POS knockoff cables You have been asking a lot of questions, which is fine, not a problem at all. Might be nice to introduce yourself and post some pics of your car
