Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an '03 coupe 50000 miles. All of a sudden, I'm getting the air bag warning light/error message. I scanned with foxwell, and habe been getting inconsistent error message. I'm able to clear the codes, then they come back in a few minutes. The current codes are 03 DTC Power Supply 39 DTC Signal Converter 25 DTC Terminal 86 S not detected Any ideas for next steps for diagnosis? I've disconnnected the battery, pulled the tensioners all the way out, reseated a number of fuses.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And now the car doesn't start. I've cleared errors. I now have a no start, no crank, nothing.

POST 3Original post

A low battery will cause a lot of weird issues. So will a faulty ignition switch. Before all of that, check all the fuses.

POST 4Original post

Low battery is my guess as well. If the ignition is getting a little hard to turn then that would be my next step. My carrera had a broken steering lock and busted ignition and it caused all kinds of issues. Electrical and mechanical. Good luck.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup checked all the fuses. Changed lock switch to a replacement uro. Changed it back to the audi porsche part with 3000 miles on it. tried boosting it, same result. No crank, nothing. guess I am going to get it towed. Now, do I go an indie or the dealer? Will the indie be able to program a replacement alarm module? I also tried 2 keys, known to work. So it isnt the pill either. I have an airbag warning light and only error 25 terminal 86 not detected after clearing codes.

POST 6Original post

U can pull the dme, modual under the seat and send it to ecudoctors with the key for a crap ton less then any dealer or indy would charge to check it out .

POST 7Original post

Before you go having the car brought to the dealer or another garage, you might check the clutch switch or even bypass it. If the car's a tip does it show the gears correctly in the fuel gauge? Does it do anything when trying to start? Dim the lights, click the starter relay behind the back seat? Does the check engine light come on with the car on?

POST 8Original post

Error 25 simply means the alarm unit is not receiving a switched 12V from term 86S through fuse E1. If the fuse is good, check for power at E1 in the fuse board. If no power there with the ignition on, there is an issue with the switched power coming from the ignition. Either the wiring or the switch itself. If there is power to the fuse, pull connector A on the alarm unit and see if there is switched 12V on pin 16. If there is voltage there, the unit is getting 12V and is not powering up so the control unit is defective. If there is 12V at fuse E1 but not at the connector, you have a wiring issue between the fuse and the control unit. Since you already replaced the ignition switch, unless you screwed something up in that repair, you can rule that out. It is all outlined in the workflow I provided as a pdf to you on the Canadian forum. The other errors are just a result of the alarm unit not powering up. -Todd

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All great advice. The car has been taken to an indie. It came off the flatbed. Shop put the key in, and of course, it started right up. It is throwing an airbag error and alarm errors. They will continue to investigate. This is an experienced shop and this one has him perplexed. Has never seen multiple errors with a no start condition. He is suspecting a wiring issue. He asked if the door panels have ever been off due to airbag error and is thinking a pinched wire. I know prior to my ownership car had passenger window regulator replaced. Car in four years has never had errors or thrown codes. I will update findings when problem is determined.
