Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'iacv' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'iacv' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check those' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I cleaned the connections that are around the loose drain on the UAOS in case anything was fouled with oil.

Cleaned the IACV and the throttle body out thoroughly with carb cleaner, put it back together and it started up normally again.

I disconnected the MAF and tried starting again, with the same result of an immediate shutdown.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

CEL light came on, on my 1999 C2, about a mile or so from home. No other issues or anything odd at the time outside of the CEL itself. Codes thrown were P1124 & P1126. After reading about those codes, I was looking for possible intake leaks. The only obvious thing I found was that the banjo connection for the drainback from the bottom of the UAOS was very loose and leaking oil. I tightened that up and erased the code. I went to start it this morning and it will start but immediately shuts off. If I keep pressing the gas pedal it will continue to run until I take my foot off of it and then it shuts down right away. The P1124 and P1126 codes have not come back but I'm now getting P0102 for Hot Film MAF.
I removed and cleaned the MAF.
I use a stock air filter.
I disconnected and reconnected the battery.
I disconnected the MAF and tried starting again, with the same result of an immediate shutdown.
The scanner shows the MAF at about 1V (ignition on and engine off) and I can't see any issues with the wiring to the MAF.
I cleared the codes and the P0102 code comes back and the immediate shut down persists.
Via the scan tool, I ran a test for the IACV. It makes a slight buzzing/humming sound. It was also pretty warm while the ignition was on even though the engine has been off.
I did a smoke test in case there was still a vacuum leak somewhere and did not find one.
Checked the oil fill cap and the gas cap and they seem normal
I cleaned the connections that are around the loose drain on the UAOS in case anything was fouled with oil.
Tomorrow I might have an opportunity to swap another MAF in to see if that is the problem.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Code P0102 is definitely the a MAF code, usually see that code code when the MAF has been disconnected...
There is a 12v wire and a 5v wire running to the MAF, you can check those with just a volt meter...
The only time I have seen a code P0102 and the MAF is not bad or hasn't been disconnected, is when one of the vario-cam solenoids shorts out and kills or drops the 12v power to the MAF...
You can temporarily disconnect both vario-cam solenoids to see if that is what is killing your 12v to the MAF......
Thanks. Spent a chunk of the day reading and learning about the vario-cam and looking at wiring diagrams.
Power to the MAF turned out to be fine. The MAF itself was fine too (and clean now).
Thanks to
@Kris Murphy
we swapped out the airbox with the MAF and the throttle body assembly from his car and it all started up fine with no dash lights.
It turned out to be the IACV. It was filthy and presumably was stuck. Cleaned the IACV and the throttle body out thoroughly with carb cleaner, put it back together and it started up normally again. Fortunate that it was just dirty and didn't end up having to replace anything.
