Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought a basic vacuum filled off amazon, < 40 dollars, its on top of my tool box for every car I touch now..
Leading evidence: 'Fill off amazon, < 40 dollars, its' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). The workshop has also pressure tested the system, but no leaks, either visible or hidden.

The vacuum fill tool was on sale at Pelican a couple years back and I'm glad I bought it.

But after having my engine out and replacing the coolant tank I had a leak that I could not find for a couple of months.

I had my local shop, that knows better replace a couple hoses and topped up the coolant.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bought a 996.2 from 2004 last year that has done just over 170 000 kilometers.
When the car was serviced earlier this year, it had to be filled up with almost two liters of coolant, and now the car were in the same workshop last week for a lit up check engine light, it was once again missing a little coolant and had to be topped up.
The workshop has also pressure tested the system, but no leaks, either visible or hidden.
Could it be the cylinder head gasket that is bad or what other alternatives are possible?
Are they using a vacuum filing system? I had my local shop, that knows better replace a couple hoses and topped up the coolant. I drove it ~10 miles to get home when the coolant light came on and it took 6 liters. The vacuum fill tool was on sale at Pelican a couple years back and I'm glad I bought it.
If the coolant is leaking into the engine, you should see it in your oil. Has the oil been changed since it was last at the shop?
White smoke when car is started but not when the engine gets warm (I think)
In a worse case scenario and it actually is a cracked head causing it, I guess the engine needs to get out in order to fix the issue?
Any idea about the cost for such an operation?
How does the coolant tank look? Yellowed/original? They are known to crack and leak under pressure but not when the car cools down. You may not notice it if the coolant is dripping on the exhaust header and evaporating.

SOOO much easier and do dinking around to bleed systems.
Is your coolant cap blue? if its black it either OOOOOLD or a knockoff, neither is a good thing. New OEM only. Same with replacement cooling tanks.
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions but I would want to diagnose the issue quickly.
First thing I would do is call up LN and get their Speednostics oil test kit to test your oil to see whats in it. If you are in a hurry you can buy their expedited version. Gotta eliminate coolant in oil question. Besides, it's always good to test your oil regardless.
While you wait, test for system leaks.
If it is a cracked head or a head gasket (which is very unlikely) you will see contamination in either or both the coolant or the oil. You won't need an oil analysis; it will be obvious. Has the expansion tank ever been replaced, and the cap. If not it is time. and there are many hoses that are now almost 20 years old.
But after having my engine out and replacing the coolant tank I had a leak that I could not find for a couple of months. Went to either Advance Auto or Auto Zone and got a pressure pump from their loaner program (you buy the tool and then bring it back when you are done with it. Found the leak in less than 1/2 hour, a clamp on a hose at the bottom of the coolant tank that was not tight. A lot of the hoses are in places that are really jard to see but is will leak enough that you should be able to find any leak.
if oil and coolant have a normal color then there is no mix.
search for white spots and that will show you where the leak is.
As mentioned, earlier, a small crack on the coolant reservoir is not uncommon. have a good look at it.
