As I live in Estonia - there is only a small market for racing seats - and with the world of net shops taking over - finding an actual seat to sit on and test for fit and feel is nearly impossible.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello fellow 996.2 owners! I recently bought a 2004 c2 coupe 6spd and am absolutely loving it. A true pleasure to drive. Yet I cannot say that my experience has not been without a few caveats. I have been addressing the issues one by one and for the greater bit - have had success. The greater bit of course means there are issues that are harder and more frustrating to resolve. 1. There as some creaking noises in the cabin that I have not been able to isolate and thus attempt to resolve. When the sunroof is open there is a creaking that i'd love to make disappear. 2. creaking and squeaking in the front end. have ordered new lower control arms, shocks, shock mounts and springs. I'll repost regarding the results vs expectations. 3. As I'm tall and large - I find it impossible to find a seating position that allows me to wear a helmet - which is needed for track use. I have 2 way power seats. Ant suggestions to lower them by about 3 or 4 cm? 4. As I discovered after the purchase - my car is missing the snorkle that connects the airbox to the spoiler. Cannot find a used one. Porsche tax means buying the whole bloody unit for 885 euros!! Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. I've attached a picture of the snorkle and of my ride 2004 carrera c2 air intake snorkel Loved the winter with my 996.2 c2

POST 2Original post

Yeah...the snorkel is part of the airbox, so you either buy a whole new or used airbox, or get lucky and find someone parting out a car and willing to sell you just the snorkel.

POST 3Original post

Try eBay for a used air box and snorkel. Mine was missing the snorkel too and I found an air box snorkel set for $80. It even came with a MAF sensor as a bonus ha!

POST 4Original post

I may have an extra snorkel if you pay for the shipping. I will check later today.

POST 5Original post

You can also try DCauto.com They will have the entire airbox for cheap.

POST 6Original post

If the snorkel is missing, it may be that the part of the airbox that held it is broken. You want to take off the box and examine it first.

POST 7Original post

There are multiple aftermarket seat options for racing. I have not used any myself so will not offer a suggestion. I would imagine one would lower you a few cm. Replacing them is a few nuts/bolts and a wire harness.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the suggestion. As I live in Estonia - there is only a small market for racing seats - and with the world of net shops taking over - finding an actual seat to sit on and test for fit and feel is nearly impossible. I was hoping that perhaps someone here has modified the rails for lowering the seat - and share some tips.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! I'll keep my fingers crossed If you should find it - I'll resolve the shipping.

POST 10Original post

This may be far too obvious, but does your seat move up and down about 100mm and you have it in the lowest position and it's still too high? And sorry, it wouldn't make sense to ship to Estonia. I just returned a radiator grill to Zun Sport in the U.S. and it cost $257!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Unless I've not looked properly - I could not see any airboxes for sale

POST 12Original post

Esto, I have a snorkel for you. Now, how do we resolve the shipping?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree that it's not sensible to ship at such exorbitant shipping rates. As I am originally from Toronto - I have been back and forth twice yearly to see my mom. If I don't succeed in finding an easier solution I'll write again and look into what it would cost to ship to Toronto. it should be very reasonable. But let's see how generous the almighty god of Porsche fate is feeling regarding the easier solution. And yes - seat is as low as I've been able to coax it.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! Just looking at the picture makes me feel better already I'll look into Toronto shipping options should I have no luck here in Europe during the next week.
