I had my 40AE delivered to me a month ago, but have yet to really drive it due to New England weather and the horribly excessive salt strategies that my local municipalities employ. After washing the car a week ago, I felt that it vibrated a bit more than I wanted at idle and the shifting was a bit sloppy on my 1/2 mile post-wash loop. Decided to replace the motor mounts, as they had looked a bit stretched and it seemed like a cheap way to freshen up a 17 year old car with 64,000 miles. Replaced the mounts today. It was pretty straightforward and took me 2 hours from start to finish. I didn't need to jack the car up, just the motor. It was helpful having an electric impact wrench on those lower nuts. My engine bay was already pretty pristine, but I did get a chance to wipe away a little gunk that resided under the air box. I picked up about a quarter inch of muffler tip height on each side. I couldn't help myself to a drive afterwards, despite the salt. Wow! This car is significantly more refined than my STR-prepped NC Miata! I warmed it up for a few minutes past hitting 180* and then let it rip. Can't wait to get it inspected so I can get out there on longer drives.
