I've found an interesting 996 for sale North of Akron. Can anyone recommend an area independent repair shop for a PPI?

I have not found anyone in Akron with a lot of 996 experience. I use the Porsche dealer in North Olmsted or take the car down near Columbus. I have read good things about Steinels in Twinsburg (which is north of Akron) but when I called them about a rebuild they didn't do that. Where is the car, if it's close I may be able to take a look. But it's not a PPI.

Layland Motors in Canton (just south of Akron) has 996 experience. Denny, (Layland owner) has had several 996's of his own. They have also done work on my 996. Their number is [phone removed]

Thanks for the lead on the place in Canton. If I can get past the salesman who promises but doesn't deliver, I'll get in touch with Denny about a PPI. I am really interested in this particular car if it proves out.

I ended up using Steinels for the PPI - because they were closest to the dealer. I found Steinels to be friendly, helpful and timely. They also seemed to understand my concern about being 500 miles away and buying a car sight unseen. Greg (dgjks6) looked at the car for me and without 3rd party eyes on this car I would not have bought it. And, I probably would not have traveled to the dealer to see it myself. So, many thanks to Greg for making time to go up there and check out the car for me. I will pick it up May 1 and will "join the club" at that time. Thanks, Rennlist Forum!

Jim, Congratulations on the purchase. Stienels is a very good shop with an excellent reputation.
