Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's cheap insurance to have a extinguisher on board, not mention, its part of DE check list.

The first day was certainly tough to get off a clean lap between the traffic and water on the track.

I think if you add the wax as recommended prior to the spray, it will come off easily.

I was able to run a best time of 1:29.8 in that final dry session.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

'I'm on a quest for something easy to use to protect my girls front end on track days. Typically I have used painters tape. This weekend I tried trakk wrap. Time consuming to install and no matter what I tried I ended up with air bubbles. Since this weekend was very wet the water got under the trakk wrap and it started to lift. As result debris would get trapped between the wrap and the paint. I obviously would prefer a clear bra but my front is no longer perfect so it seems silly to invest $1k. Has anyone tried a bra for track days? Do they do more damage than they prevent? Open to ideas.

Why not try 3M Paint Defender Film - comes out of a spray can. You can pick it up at auto zone or order online.

sds911 thanks for the suggestion. What has your experience been with the product? I'm a little hesitant to use a spray product for fear it won't completely come off without harming the paint.

I have a bottle sitting in the garage -- was going to use on my front bumper after a re-spray, but have not done it yet.
I think if you add the wax as recommended prior to the spray, it will come off easily. You can find youtube videos on the web and they even did a demo on a motortrend/goss's garage episode a while back.
Actually looks like it will come off easier than clear-bra products.

Looks pretty slick. I had read in other places sometimes it comes off leaving chucks of material behind. Might give it go. Thanks for the suggestion.
Sorry I missed ya at the track. I was getting the parse error on the forums and couldn't access the thread when you told me what car and # you were! Yes, it was indeed wet!!
Get some generic 3m, Hex, Avery clear vinyl roll from eBay and cut to size. You're only gonna use it at the track so it doesn't need to be perfect. That and a blow dryer should net you presentable results just make sure your there's no paint chips on your front end or else the wrap could peel more of it away upon removal.
Sorry i missed you also. Hopefully next time? Did you go out on Sunday? It was pouring in the morning and I decided to head to the track for the next 3 sessions and then saw the sever thunderstorm warnings and thought better of it.
It ended up being an awesome afternoon. Our groups last session at 3 was bone dry and I turned my fastest times ever at Roebling. Now, at 3:45 the bottom fell out and the weather got severe. They cancelled the rest of the day.
I drive through it on 95 headed back to FL. It was so bad, all traffic just completely stopped on the interstate. All in all a pretty fun weekend.
Is there more of a rock chip concern on the track than on the road? I drive on the road forever at 80MPH at least versus hitting an occasional 100MPH+ speed at the track a few times of year.
The tracks in North Texas have far superior surfaces surfaces to the roads.
So what's up with the special treatment? Sounds as useless as adding a fire extinguisher for DE. Are you guys running on paved tracks?
BTW When I first saw the corvettes with their blue painters tape I thought it was to hold them together. Not protect the paint. I remember thinking, "They're plastic, why don't they hold them together with glue".
For me it's not so much the rocks but the tire debris. My car comes home with the front bumper, hood and roof covered with rubber smears. Plus, the occasional off road excursion but that's a different story.
No defense for the off road excursion. Ask me how I know. I have a black car so never noticed tire debris. I'm also in the intermediate run group so may not be shedding as much.
I definitely find it a problem. Especially if you are running with track prepared cars. I always have chunks of rubber stuck to my car and chips in my paint if I don't protect my front end. Last year I got lazy and decided I would try several coats of wax and leave it at that. My car really took a beating and had tons of rock chips. I won't take that risk again. I have seen a few cars burn on the track, including a 996 last year. It's cheap insurance to have a extinguisher on board, not mention, its part of DE check list.
That's awesome Gator! The first day was certainly tough to get off a clean lap between the traffic and water on the track. I was hesitant to push it since this was my first time out on the track since October coupled with the slick conditions. My best time was a 1:26.8.

Sweet! That is a smoking lap time! I am just thankful I didn't drive my Rcomps up there. My Pilot Sports were getting really greasy towards the end on Sunday. I was also playing with tire pressures some which didn't make much sense since I am not a tire engineer.
The rain had us all changing up our lines out of necessity. I started staying out wider than normal when approaching the apex of turn 9 since all that water was ponding there. It actually set me up for a better transition onto the straight. I will play with it more the next visit.
Thanks man. For sure the water was all over the normal line. Was definitely sliding around on my Dunlop Direzza ZIIs like I was on ice skates. They don't like standing water very much.
