Oil change, filter change and sump removal today after 3000k with Motul 8100 5-40. Totally clean sump and filter. Added a magnetic drain plug as well. Used Loctite 5900 and torqued sump to 10 Nm in sequence. I will relax another 3000k 😄

It's all good. There's a chap on here with original IMS done nearly 200k in his 996. In fact it's looking like changing the IMS might be a bad idea as they can implode just as easily as the original! Certainly as your mileage gets higher and your original IMS is good - the likely hood of it going is less and less.

I have similar feelings as you. Just under 75k on my 2002 and upon filter inspection it is 100% clean. Using DT40 changing every 6 months 5k miles. Magnetic plug. Original clutch is fine but when it does need changing not sure if I should change IMS and RMS for that matter if they are dry.
