The angle that the paddles are installed may look strange in the photo but it works beautifully with a little curvature that hooks on to the fingertip.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had these paddle shifters installed. They are awesome!!!

POST 2Original post

Looks great! Are those paddles attached to the steering wheel? Much be more intuitive to use than the regular shift buttons.

POST 4Original post

Looks interesting. Can you post more pics of the back, etc? What is the cost? Thanks.

POST 5Original post

more info please where did you get them? cheers

POST 6Original post

NEED THEM RIGHT NOW!. TAKE THEM OFF AND GIVE THEM TO ME!. Thats where the idiot at P should have put them in the first place Every time I look at my wheel I think what a D***. I reckon whoever it was cycled to the Stuttgart factory every day. Who drives at 2:45?

POST 8Original post

now i wish i would have got a TIP.. I think paddles are the best thing ever

POST 9Original post

Love Love Love!!!! I don't have a Tip but I might just buy these because they look awesome!

POST 10Original post

My question is can this be done with a couple of micro switches and some paddles. Are the original buttons just intermittent N/O micro switches? I have asked this many times before and never got an answer. If they are just switches this mod will be a piece of cake!. any clarification?. perrycarrera4 is out driving his new paddles and has not come back yet!.

POST 12Original post

I love them on my Cayenne Turbo but I make do with the gear selector. I hate the tip buttons on the steering wheel.

POST 13Original post

I'm wondering if these paddles would fit? http://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/2...installed.html

Thats even more disturbing then the flappy paddles in a car

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 9499642

They have the wrong angle for a 996 steering wheel. I had a set and held them up to my 3-spoke wheel and discovered that the Porsche wheels have a much steeper mounting angle than the MB wheels. No luck there. The MB product is a really high quality shifter, BTW.

That's a shame, so perrycarrea4 where did you get your paddles ? Linky.? Whoever did design where the tip buttons got placed? Needs to lose there job.

POST 19Original post

Well I got bored of the stupid Porsche design and put it right too. so made my own [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] But I don't think there is a slip ring with enough connections.

POST 20Original post

Like what you've done there Thirteeneast, where do the switches wire into and how did you fix the paddles to the wheel?

POST 22Original post

So where did you get these paddles, OP? Please don't leave us in the dark here.

POST 23Original post

I know I gave up! But in some ways that was good because I made my own and mine match the interior!. Like I said I really disagree with previous opinions and reckon the Amg ones would fit. Possibly the Audi TT paddles too ,But they are quite wide.

POST 24Original post

Thanks for that,I'll have a look at what's available.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To mount the paddles, we had to drill holes through leather and plastic. We probed the backside where paddles would be mounted with a needle to make sure there are no structural parts in the way. Once we mounted the paddles, the steering wheel was put back in place. Figured out which Tiptronic wires were for up/down shifts, then tapped on to them. Tiptronic buttons were not disconnected and are still functioning. They can easily be disconnected at any time. Strangely, using paddles forces hands to stay on the rim. I have not touched the Tiptronic buttons accidentally since the paddles were installed, hence no reason to disconnect. There is plenty of clearance in the back between the paddles and stalks. The angle that the paddles are installed may look strange in the photo but it works beautifully with a little curvature that hooks on to the fingertip. The entire mod took us about 45 min. Any competent mechanic should be able to do it. I would do this again if I get another 996. If you are interested, send me a message and I'll give you more details on the paddles.

POST 27Original post

Has anybody been informed what these paddle shifters were off ? I've sent a PM but no reply and wondered if anybody had got an answer as to what the shifters were from ?

POST 28Original post

I want to know what paddles these are as well and can't wait to hear as I want these BAD!

POST 29Original post

So the paddle rotates around with the wheel? I dont like that solution, though ok for just a cruiser.

Did you need to adjust the voltage with the circuit or just tapped into the existing switch loom? i am at the stage of fitting my own MOMO prototipo paddle setup, and read somewhere that a resisitor in line is required?

POST 33Original post

My homebrew set up using a MOMO Prototipo and DIY paddles, need to test wiring and fitment, running on Series 1 Boxster Tiptronic back of steering wheel, showing paddles and switches, momo spacer and loom Front of the steering wheel, and paddle
