I've checked the fuses and they are all good also.

I replaced many older fuses and love my car all over again!

I feel like pulling the radio out and checking the power supply feed going into the back of it.

If that doesn't work, disconnect the negative battery lead for a few minutes (you'll have to do the window relearn process and - hopefully - enter the code for your radio).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It worked perfectly for a few days, but now does not power on.
Hi guys. I recently had my brakes powder coated. The shop did an awesome job on the calipers but in the process somehow broke my radio! Place is now closed down and cant get in touch with anyone there. Before I brought it to them I had a code display on the screen. While it was there getting worked on I got in touch with porsche to retrieve the code via the vin number expecting to pop it in and be good to go. Now I get no display out of the radio. The on off button seems to be working fine. Feels fine when I depress the button also. I've checked the fuses and they are all good also. When I asked them about it they said that they had to jump start the car because the battery died on them while they were bleeding the brakes. Dont know what that would have to do with anything since any time the battery is disconnected you only get the code message not a dead radio.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hold the band selector for 2 seconds; the CODE prompt should reappear.

Tried both and still nothing. I feel like pulling the radio out and checking the power supply feed going into the back of it. I would love to know if the radio is fried or if its not getting its 12vdc input.
I'm sorry. Are you saying there is another fuse located in the stereo wiring harness located behind it? And you have to pull the radio out to access it?
Yes, that's what he's saying. I don't recall there being a fuse near the harness, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. You'll need two Porsche radio removal keys, which you can buy online for a buck or two.
If I remember correctly, the fuse is actually on back of the head unit. If you get stuck, I have a cdr23 out of my 2003 C2 that I would take an offer on.
Ok. Waiting for the radio removal keys to come in the mail. I'll let you guys know if there is a fuse back there as soon as I can pull the head unit out. Thanks for all your help guys. Much appreciated
Also, if you have the CDR23 MOST based system which is linked to the car's security system, it would be a good test to see if it's just in "lock down mode" by reseting the car's security system. In other words, try locked and arming the car with the keyfob not "locking" with the key portion only, but arming the car with the keyfob and then disarming. Try a couple of cycles, and then see if the radio will come on. If not, of course it could be a simple fuse, but in my opinion, if that doesn't work or if it's not the common code reset, then I think, IMHO, it's the "Becker curs"e and you'll need to think about replacing it.
Ok. I finally got the radio removal keys and there was a 10 amp fuse located behind the head unit. replaced it popped in the code and I was good to go.
Thanks everyone for your help!
I was thinking of this thread earlier today...I noticed this morning that there is a fuse on the back side of the head unit and wondered if it was your issue.
I realize this is an old thread, but it was one of many answers I found when looking for reasons why my instrument cluster and radio weren't working. We took it to a mechanic (that will be the last time there!) and spent a bunch o' money to fix things, but my instrument panel wouldn't come on until I drove the car for 10-15 minutes, and even then, my radio didn't even light up. So frustrating! My background info: porsche boxster, 1997, I've owned as second owner since 1999! I love my car, but was ready to sell it, and I've never wanted to before!
We bought a bunch of new fuses and I went to work. Replaced the radio one, nothing. But today I was reading here about fuse at back of radio, and tried one more solution. Someone mentioned the B1 fuse. D9 is also important for the radio to work. That's it! the instrument cluster came to life as well as the radio!!! I replaced many older fuses and love my car all over again! Spend $3 or so per package of fuses and smile all the way to the bank! Hope this helps someone else!
just bought a1999 Boxster for my son. The radio won’t power on. I replaced the fuse in the box, and the fuse at the back of the radio. It worked perfectly for a few days, but now does not power on. Any ideas? I appreciate any help!
