Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm not sure what to search for. I have loose flaps on the inside of my top as shown in the attached images. The top functions perfectly, but I'd like to know how to clean up this mess. Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Wow, I've never seen that before. I don't think it's a common problem.

POST 3Original post

I have a similar problem but not as bad. From what I understand its a situation that requires the top in its service position and then sorting through the fitment of the liner. There are elastic pieces that stretch out and anchor points on the metal brackets of the top where the adhesive came loose. Once I finish my moving process it is something I plan to figure out.

I have a similar problem and I cannot find any info about repairing the headliner anywhere. I know the headliner can be purchased for $329 but I don't know about installation. I'm assuming my elastic straps have given up the ghost after so many years. Please keep us posted as to what you find. TIA

Wow, I can't believe I have this forum stumped. I thought every possible 996 issue has been documented 🤣 Hopefully, someone will chime in today with more info.

POST 10Original post

Thanks, ssgunny, for the link. I was able to get the instructions from the workshop manual which I had in My Documents!

POST 11Original post

There are dozens of little straps and connectors in there. All I can say is hunt around with the roof in service position. I fixed one of my issues reattaching a strap that had pulled off.

Oh wow, mine started to do the same on an '02 cab, but its not as much as yours. Seems like a good project to do.
