Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm getting ready for a fun weekend at Roebling. I have always used my hard top for track days. I was considering not using it this weekend to save some weight. Those of you with Cabs that enjoy the track have you noticed any difference in chassis rigidity using the hardtop vs not?

POST 2Original post

Does a roll cage have to be constructed for a cab when on the track? I don't track mine but just wondering.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess it depends on the track or club rules. The automatic roll bars in the 996 satisfies the PCA requirements in my area.

POST 4Original post

Weight vs. aerodynamics ? Your choice.... unless you will use the softtop while on the track. But some say the soft top introduces other safety issues in the event of a roll over.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11661860

I had read somewhere that the hardtop might prevent the rollbar from popping up. I'm not sure that the hardtop would do a whole lot of good in the event of a rollover without the rollbar?

POST 6Original post

I used to track two convertibles: a Miata and a S2000. My first modification to both were a Harddog rollbar and race seats. But, both of those cars were mostly dedicated track cars and not a street car that I sometimes take to the track. To be honest, you are just doing HPDE and not racing. Therefore, I would concentrate on: 1. Having fun 2. Learning how to drive the car better 3. Getting the car home in one piece! Therefore, I would go to the track with whatever configuration of your car is the safest.

POST 8Original post

The hardtop weighs 73 lbs, and is centrally positioned within the wheelbase. I doubt that the presence or absence of the hardtop would be discernible to many DE participants. relinuca
