Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Turned out that the bushings on the airbag retaining frame were failing, causing the horn to activate, often in a pulsing rythym like an alarm.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a friend who is a new owner of a 2001 C2 996 Cab. He has a bizarre problem. With the car unlocked in the garage and the key fob not even in the house, the theft alarm goes off for minutes or hours as the neighbors report. It can often deactivate itself. Any suggestion of the origin of the gremlins?

POST 2Original post

I had a similar report from coworkers. Turned out that the bushings on the airbag retaining frame were failing, causing the horn to activate, often in a pulsing rythym like an alarm. This would only happen on random occasions and I never witnessed it myself. The issue is fairly common, at least with 4 spoke steering wheels. Just a guess...

POST 3Original post

Known problem. I don't even bother trying to fix it. Solution : arm the car, then unarm it ..... Walk away Min about 1 minute, the auto door lock will lock the door. No more false alarm. Don't even ask why ......just do it
