I actually meant to post this since changing the oil around Thanksgiving in preparation to put the car away for the winter.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, just kidding... With so many posts of "bad news" I thought I'd post a positive thread. I actually meant to post this since changing the oil around Thanksgiving in preparation to put the car away for the winter. I cut the oil filter apart to check for "metal particles". And then move a crazy strong magnet throughout the filter to see if picked anything up... At first, it picked up a metal flake or two... but then I realized it had yellow paint on them.... whew! It was actually from the yellow hacksaw that I used to cut the filter. I simply didn't have a large enough pair of scissors to cut it with. Overall, it seems that the filter is pretty clean. Even when I zoom in on it, I don't really see any foreign objects. So that's good news! Everything about it seems normal enough?

You should borrow Paul W's microscope to be completely certain.

have you thought about sending your old oil for a UOA?

Actually, I send every sample for all my cars into Blackstone Labs over the past 20 years or so. This is the latest.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looks like you didn't let the filter "sit" so that the oil would drain out. I.e. - it's still wet!
