Suspected cause
Probably a 996 that matches his other pics hasn't come through his valet parking gig yet.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Davide Cironi loves cars and his website is filled with his driving them. He leans toward Italian machines but also plays with French and German stuff. If you don't speak Italian you have to study his face to get a sense of what he is feeling. Anyway this is his (and some other Porsche fans) choice between the 996 and 993.
Porsche 996 vs Porsche 993 - Davide Cironi drive experience - YouTube
My own feelings as I watched are that I started to feel the 996 was better looking...inside and out. Nothing against the 993...it is just starting to age for me.
I just happen to speak Italian and I can interpret this video for the RL crowd...If you are a 993 fan then you will feel(after watching the video) that the 993's superiority shone through and you will still believe that the 996 is an embarrassment to Porsche. However, if you are a 996 fan then you will probably feel(again, after watching the video) that the 996 is the superior car
BUT
you will walk away with a continued appreciation for the 993.
Same stuff, different day...
The water cooled is better than any air cooled machines. It has to be or Porsche would still be air cooled. BTW great to see all the different models in the video.
The 997 was better than the 996 for a couple of months, and then the Volkswagen GTI was better than all 911's for several months. It's good to see that the 996 is once again the best 911.
Well, the point is that 996's are just plain better than 993's.
In all respects.
Not that the 993 is a bad car.
It had its day.
And that day has passed.
And the value argument is simply irrelevant. I'm literally sitting on top of a museum full of cars that are worth way more than most 993's. But, almost without exception, I'd rather drive a 993 than any of those cars because the 993 is a better car than them.
The 996 is better than the 993.
Actually, just for historical accuracy, I regretted getting rid of the 996 and buying the 997 within the first week but could not get the dealer to unwind the deal. The longer I had the 997 the less I liked it overall. The exterior was fine but the interior is ugly and the chronosport technology, in my opinion, is overrated. The only time I enjoyed it was when driving it very fast...and my wife hated it.
So in the end, after three months I dumped the 997 and found a good deal on a GTI...which I still have and enjoy almost as much as the new 996. But not completely as much as the 996. The GTI is a great 4 door 4 passanger ride. The 996, for me, has a very classic sports car look and feel, I love the interior and the exterior and the balance of the basic suspension set up.
With all the buying and selling and shopping and video watching, my appreciation for the exterior lines of the 996 grew and my appreciation of the 993/997 exteriors became less.
End of story
I guess what I want to know is...how the hell did you convince your wife it was cool to buy/sell that many cars in that time frame? F*** the cars, you're my hero for pulling that off without waking up dead a single time.
I met my wife in Junior High School...we became friends before we got romantically involved over a decade later. My history of going through cars is pretty excessive and it goes back to the late seventies and my first Alfa Romeo. More than once she has come home to learn that I have sold her car just to give her the car I became bored with so that I could buy something new.
Not counting what came before the Alfas, all told it has been 20 cars plus two race cars in 28 years...not counting the cars I talked her into buying. I have no idea how I ended up so lucky. However car turn over in the last two years, ending with the 997 and second GTI, did make her take a deep breath and remind me that our money does have to last for the rest of our lives. That prompted me to sell the two Rolexes to finance the latest 996.
From my more diseased point of view, only the 997 was a mistake, if I hadn't done that I would still be with the first 996. But I don't know if that qualifies as sanity. The good news is that my wife really does like this 996 Cab.
Yes I am very very lucky. And happy.
For those who enjoyed Cironi's You Tube video, he has many more, many with sub titles. One of my favorites is his drive of a Lancia Delta Integrale...he almost passes out in ecstasy.
I think we both are.... I am on car 14 in 12 years... and currently have (4) in my stable.... Wife just makes me buy her something small everytime I bring a new car home. The Current Porsche I just purchased was the hardest to get by her as I already have a 400hp GOLF R..
The more any one group of Porsche model owner tries to diminish another model the smaller and more insecure they appear. Kind of reminds me of the Boxster forums when I use to own one.
I always refer back to the 1998 issue of Road&Track magazine I still have when Peter Egan and Paul Frere drive and compare the newly arrived 996 vs. the out going 993. Yup, 996 a superior car.
Title is taped to the lower right corner of the windshield. If you enlarge the picture and strain your eyes you will find my reflection holding the camera.
Ive tried you tube but cannot find it and search on here is dire. So which episode of Sesame street is this that features Burts Porsche?
Sorry couldn't ID anyone in the line up in Paris either..

All condos have garages. I don't do selfies on principle. But I do have a groin cam on my speedos so maybe when the sun comes out I'll post something for you.
You seem to be misquoting me or attributing something someone else said to me. I usally say "I like something better." That is different than saying something "is" better. My car is better looking than your car.
Check out my new 918!!!! I love this car! So much better than the 996, the 997 and the Bugatti Veyron that I owned way back in 2015.
This is actually my garage. I designed it to look just like the display area at Barrett-Jackson. I'm so awesome...
Nothing can top the 966. I actually owned a 966 when I bussed tables in Temecula. The quality lines. The responsiveness. Plus, what a chick magnet. Sadly, I had to sell it to purchase my first Rollex. I was quick to discover that I couldn't take the 966 into the bar with me to impress the chicks. But I soon discovered that me, at the bar, ordering my Tom Collins and flashing my time piece and chest hair was the gateway to Nirvana. There is no substitute...
