Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As the title says, I finished up this round of DIY this afternoon, fairly straight forward stuff. No big surprises and only one one frozen/rusted ball joint nut needed to be cut off... The transmission mount insert was a little finicky and a pretty tight squeeze. It definitely takes some patience but eventually I got it installed. I happened to go with the "black" model (It was on sale). Driving impressions: The front end feels so much better/tighter (I went with the Vertex control arms with the poly bushings) and is much quieter than the creeky old wishbones (there is still a bit of a squeak though) - overall I'm super happy with the feel, and the price was right $570 after returning wishbone cores. The F1 Transmission mount insert, I haven't totally made up my mind on yet. It definitely firmed up shifting, as the stock mount had really started to sag. I suppose this made the install quite a bit more difficult than installing to a new mount. In any case, I was quite surprised when I got the wheels back on, and took her for a spin...Upon initial acceleration (easy mind you as it wasn't warmed up) I felt like I was sitting on the transmission! Can you say NVH ? Sure ya can! Really, I thought I f'd something up at first, quickly running through a checklist in my mind - then the lightbulb went on... I have to drive it for a while before making up my mind. On the one hand it's kind of cool - very race car like...On the other, I don't think it'll be very comfortable for any length of time...we'll see. I'm really looking forward to getting some B8 sport shocks/struts as I've already got some H&R sport springs...
