I was trying to find the right color match for my interior and it turned out that Smoke was too light so ordered a second one in Graphite.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Neat, that actually looks nice and would probably keep that area from sun fading. Did you say Suncoast carries said product, but do they stock it for the 996? Otherwise it looks like custom from local upholstery shop is the way to go.
Yes, I think It is made by Lloyd's. They have one for the bonnet as well, but no rear shelf for the 996. Custom might be pretty pricey, especially with embroidery.
Hijacking this thread a little bit, but does anybody know of a custom-fit rubber liner for the front trunk? It seems like a beautiful candidate for it; since it's so deep, you could basically make a Rubbermaid tub exactly the shape of the trunk, fitted around the spare tire and whatnot, but I haven't found anybody who sells one. It would be excellent to prevent spills (you could probably spill 10 gallons of stuff and not get a drop on your trunk carpet!) and then you could just take it out and hose it off.
I've got the Bose (OE) Sub in the back so this might actually fit the bill for my 996. I'll have to look into this 997 mat, my rear compartment carpeting is looking like the Titus (famous silverback gorilla) edition. The Porsche carpeting in the rear has fade to silver or light grey where the sun has been getting to it, then the rest of the car is the nice black.
Anyhow, getting a replacement from Porsche with the molded foam is as everything Porsche $$ pricy.
DKraige, I think you maybe on to something. Perhaps a crowed source venture to get such product made, tested, marketed and sold. hum...

I contacted Suncoast about the rear cargo carpet mat. Lloyds only makes a mat for the 997 not the 996. And after speaking with the customer service rep, I learned that the mat would be a little too big for a 996. I know from my 2000 FACT BOOK that the dimensions of the rear cargo area with the seats folded is 7.1 cubic feet (200L). I intend to make a template of the rear area and have a carpet cut accordingly. More to follow.

I have the Lloyd's rear cargo mat (the one for seats NOT folded down). It fits perfectly in my 2004 996 40AE. I ordered it using the 997 order guide. Here's what I ordered:
Mat: UM14 3705310 Small Deck Mat ($69.90), Mat Color:128 Graphite, 2005 Porsche 911, Model Feature: Coupe, Model Feature: 997
Item# WIZ-051D-UM14-3705310-408-128
Jhbrennan,
Does the Lloyd's rear cargo mat fit over the dips in the back of the seats or does it fit down into the valleys?
I'm trying to determine if the rear mat that Suncoast sells for the 997 fits snuggly or just lays over the rear area. Also how firm is it, I am guessing that it is the consistency of a floor mat.
Thanks for the heads up.

OK,
Had a good talk with a Lloyd's Mats guy just a minute ago.
They make a rear deck mat to fit a 996.
I will attach a picture of the diagram. It may or may not go all the way to the window. The Lloyd's guy says it goes to the back. It is a wopping $71.99 without the logo. As you can see it starts where the seats go down then goes back from there.

Hope this helps.

The diagram you posted is for the mat with the seats folded down. I thought folks were looking for the mat (see my previous post) that fits on the shelf with the seats up.
Where are you located? I have an extra one laying around. I was trying to find the right color match for my interior and it turned out that Smoke was too light so ordered a second one in Graphite. The Smoke one is yours if you want to pay the shipping
jhbrennan,
,
I am in Central Texas. The mat my wife purchased for me will be here in a few days. She will not tell me if it is the one I was looking at from Suncoast ( for a 997) which I think will fit or the 996 which I think is designed for seats up or down.
If it is the 996 and you want it I will switch off with you.
My main concern is to stop the fading of my rear carpet.
I've found some round sun screens I am using to put in my door windows to keep the sun out. Now I just might end up putting a windshield sun screen in my back window. I do not like the window tint.

We may be close - I'm in the Austin area. I'm OK with the mat I currently have - I too bought to protect from sun. Lloyd makes two rear dent mats for the 997 (which fit the 996) - one is for seats down and theater is for seats up. Let me know if the wife's purchase is what you wanted. If not you can at least try out my "extra" for fitment.

I am attempting to post a diagram of the 996 mat (which I think I want because I think it works seats up or down).

Unless I'm not seeing it, that mat goes on top of the seats when they are down. I am wanting something with a logo that goes on the bi level shelf behind the seats.
Cocomats has offerings for cargo and trunk in a variety of materials
Some can be pricey, but the quality and fit looks excellent

ALCON,
My Lloyd's mat came in this morning. Unfortunately it only covers the area of the backs of the seats while they are folded down.
It is black with red lettering spelling out Carrera. It belongs to a 997.
If anyone has a mat that fits the 996 (e.g. goes all the way back to the window), I am willing to trade. I don't care what color.
If not, I will go with what I've got and a black sheet or shower curtain (anything to prevent fading in the hot Central Texas sun).
