Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the audi/porsche ignition switch with the known URO one from 2019.
Leading evidence: 'Replace audi/porsche ignition switch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check next' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I had to just use a feeler guage but I was trying to think back on how many Dwell meters I have had and where did they go.I did still have my timing light .LMAOO
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Let it sit longer than I'd like to admit. Went to take it for a drive because life has finally calmed down.
Everything powers up but when I turn the key to turn the engine over, nothing. I can hear the HVAC fan shut off and then come back on when I release the key.
Voltage gauge shows just above 10V. Charged the battery, and put a jump pack on it. Voltage still shows just above 10V ??? And no drop when I turn the key to start. I figured even with a "weak" battery Id hear the starter *attempt* to turn but I got nothing.
What to check next ?
Thanks
Take the battery out of the car, charge it properly. Clean the battery terminals and the wiring terminals. Reinstall battery. Crank it up. IF that does not work, inspect the 12V terminal at the firewall.
Do you have 12V across the battery terminals? Do you have power at the jump points in the engine bay? Should be at least 12V or better there as well. Ignition switch could be a culprit.Remember, it takes a lot of amps to crank the starter and could be your battery needs replacing.
Just dropping this here. Its a great tool to test a bat during cranking and charging. Sounds like the bat might be fubar and most autoparts store can test it too.

Thanks for the link (it had a 40% off coupon too). I have been using an analog tester I've had since the '90s. This a good opportunity to upgrade to something made in this century.
Battery would have likely dropped cells, one of mine did this last week. Not enough the power up the ECU, and just happened overnight. TBH I did notice a slow down of the starting a few weeks before.
Don't get rid of the "Old School" test equipment they still have their place, The new stuff is exceptional for 95% of the cases but every now and then there is a rare case where the old school load test is needed
And a Dwell Meter !! I am jealous .. I needed one of those not long ago working on a 1993 Sunbird I/O open bow boat that had old school points in it... I had to just use a feeler guage but I was trying to think back on how many Dwell meters I have had and where did they go.I did still have my timing light .LMAOO
Yes, take it for what it is worth.
I drive my car less than 1000 miles per year unfortunately. My dog doesn't fit in it. Main reason.
I changed my ignition switch to a URO one in 2019. All worked fine. Fastest switch I could get from Amazon. Couple of weeks later, I replaced it again with the audi/porsche part.
In May 2023 with less than 3000 miles driven, I had a air bag light and no start situation. Besides resetting air bag light and other diagnostics, I could not figure it out. I replaced the audi/porsche ignition switch with the known URO one from 2019. No start continued.
I had car towed 50 miles. Told porsche specialist what I had done. Feared the ECU/Alarm. Told him I had changed the switch. He did a whole bunch of diagnostics. Could not figure out what was wrong. So, he ignored me and changed the switch for a new audi/porsche part.
Guess what, all problems went away!
So what did I learn:
1. Switch age even if not used - URO one.still degrades/
2. Don't assume the switch is good - they just go bad.
Im surprised at the low quality of Porsche parts. Id expect it to last much longer. I received a brand-new Porsche oil pressure sensor that wouldnt read over 4 bar.
I know my expectations may be high, but I dont think theyre unreasonable.
