Now running original stock pads but they're almost done.

I was running Pagid Oranges but got tired of the squeal.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry about this chaps but with the archives from the old format forum gone, I can't find any info on replacement pads. So here we go again...
I was running Pagid Oranges but got tired of the squeal. Now running original stock pads but they're almost done. Any suggestions? A different Pagid perhaps or just OEM again? (Must say though that I really miss the stopping power of the Oranges. But when
everybody
looks at you when stopping at a light and work colleagues comment on your "bad" brakes, the squealing has to stop.)
Btw, I still have a set of double adjustable/coilover JRZ shocks for the 996 if anyone's interested.
Many thanks,
Paul
Paul,
Do you track the car often? If not, OEM pads should be fine. Also the stock pads have ant-squeel biscuits that help keep them quiet.
If you do track and don't want to swap pads between street and track, try the Pagid Blues, they're susposed to be quieter.
One thing I've discovered with Oranges is that if you bed them exactly the way Pagid specifies, they don't seem to be that noisy on the street. If you don't, they squeel like stuck pigs.
Karl
Karl,
How's it going? I don't track this car any more (I have another toy for that duty). When I retired it, I took the Pagids off. I got frustrated with the OEM's, so I put the Pagids back on and of course neglected to mark which ones were which when I took them off. I probably put them back on on the wrong sides etc., which certainly won't have helped the squealing.
I've had time to dig around a little today and heard that Pagid make a Sports compound (not the Blue). Supposed to be good and they come with anti-squeal plates. Also heard that Ferodo might be worth a look. Blues, I think, are what Pagid had before Oranges (a lower co of frict). They are still a race pad (got to get them to temp) and they still are prone to the dreaded squeal. (Keeping the rotors clean, "radiusing" the leading edge, etc., helps but doesn't cure.)
Hope all's well with your awesome beast and that your car's doing OK too (grin).
Cheers,
Paul
