Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just replaced the ICV as well last week everything was fine for about 100 miles
Leading evidence: 'Replace icv as well last week everything was fine' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'female terminals of the coil(s)' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair boxster immobilizer replacement/ reprogram and several key fob replacements' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used specialized ecu repair for a boxster immobilizer replacement/ reprogram and several key fob replacements.

Suspected cause
You can test the female "round" wire terminals using precision "numbered" drill bits, select the drill size that fits the female terminals tightly ,then try the same drill bit in the suspect female terminals of the coil(s) that are producing the fault codes..

Also i have had to replace all the pins in the dme plug for my o2 sensors because of a heavy handed tech had spread the teeth.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 99 cable car keeps throwing a CEL for bad coil BUT they are all brand new
my tech reset it and it returned 100 miles later also I have an erratic idle once in a while
I just replaced the ICV as well last week everything was fine for about 100 miles
my tech feels the ecu is finicky
Based on what, does he feel that?
The ECU lives a coveted live inside the car, far greater chance that a bad electrical contact is the cause. for instance the terminals inside the plug that connects to the ignition coil.
Anyway, ECU Doctors in FL seem to have a proven track record from what I've read on here.
Also i have had to replace all the pins in the dme plug for my o2 sensors because of a heavy handed tech had spread the teeth. The faults were very random. I was able to see the issue with a good magnify glass. It was 100% for me ro spend the $100 diag fee with ecu doctors to verify all the inputs and outputs. I would lean toward a harness issue then dme but its real hard to diagnose when they r random.
I used specialized ecu repair for a boxster immobilizer replacement/ reprogram and several key fob replacements. They provided good service both times I used them and made a miscommunication about being able to cut key blades right by sending me a free waterproof immobilizer case worth over $100. They are my go to for this kind of thing and I would definitely recommend them.

Are the code(s) for coils just one coil?
Is it just one bank?
Is it just random coils?
The coils have 3 wires, a power wire that connects to all 6 coils, a ground wire that connects to a bank of coils (3) each, ....Bank 2 grounds at GP11, bank 1 grounds at GP10...then each coil has a separate trigger wire to the DME...
You can test the female "round" wire terminals using precision "numbered" drill bits, select the drill size that fits the female terminals tightly ,then try the same drill bit in the suspect female terminals of the coil(s) that are producing the fault codes..
The DME's are very robust and don't fail unless the is a serious short...so that would be last on my list. of suspects..
