Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I need to remove the assembly anyway to tighten one of the set screws, it doesnt feel or sound loose but it doesnt feel right.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My wife stopped in at a Porsche dealer looking for Christmas gift ideas. She came home with, among other things, a Porsche Classic catalog. They listed a sampling of parts in the back; I thought two of them were interesting.

The Manthey shifter has been available for a good few months now. It's clear the management at Porsche have trawled through Manthey's back catalogue to see what lucrative products they can re-introduce to the market and sell at an inflated price ...
This shifter, whilst the real Manthey deal, is not how Olaf Manthey originally engineered it or indeed supplied it, regrettably.
Back in 2012-14 I bought a Mk1 996 GT3 that had been fitted with the Manthey K400 conversion, Manthey KW V3 coilovers, and the Manthey short shift kit. In the format it was supplied and fitted the shifter was a revelation compared with ANY other aftermarket short-shifter on the market. Period.
It was that good, because Olaf Manthey tried all the other junk short shift kits out there and decided he could engineer something far better. And did.
Unfortunately the shifter Porsche are now supplying doesn't address one of the main issues with the 996 shift assembly, so you're better off buying one of the well known upgrade kits rather than wasting your money on this (especially as it's now overpriced).
Correct. It's cheap, nasty, junk that does the job reasonably well when brand new, but every shift is a step closer to wobbly, inaccurate/imprecise, shift-feeling ruination ...
The Manthey unit was good as originally supplied many years ago. Your 997 unit with the FF upgrade kit addresses all the issues, bar the one the Manthey unit does.
You have a choice, try the Manthey unit, as it
should
integrate with the FF kit (but I can’t guarantee it) or you go with the FF lever upgrade, which you know will integrate with the existing FF kit you have.
Would I risk the Manthey lever ? Probably not.
Youre probably right. I need to remove the assembly anyway to tighten one of the set screws, it doesnt feel or sound loose but it doesnt feel right. I have the Manthey saved on a running car list. Next is the semi solid FF end links. Appreciate the insight.
According to the catalog picture, which is repeated at the Suncoast website, coilovers and swaybar links.
