Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The SAI is just used for 30 seconds or so on a cold engine to help heat the cats .
Leading evidence: 'Use 30 seconds or so' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test here in fl so its not an issue' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

we do not have any emissions test here in FL so its not an issue for me, but this is something I would like to know.

So you drive to emissions test place the engine is hot .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As I have the engine out of the car for a major service , Im considering removing the SAI system from it.
I understand I will need to remap the ECU to ROW mapping, to avoid any CEL.
I have two questions.
1. I have the blocking plates on hand, and it looks like it doesnt include the vacuum canister support.
do I need to fabricate one or there is another solution?
2. Once the ECU is remapped, will the car pass emissions test?
we do not have any emissions test here in FL so its not an issue for me, but this is something I would like to know.
thanks in advance.
For question # 2 I see no reason why it wouldn't pass emissions . The SAI is just used for 30 seconds or so on a cold engine to help heat the cats . So you drive to emissions test place the engine is hot . As long as there are no stored codes and the ECU shows ready status on all parameters you are good to go .
I eliminated the SAI on my 3.8 build but I don't remember what we did for the vacuum cannister .
So I found in the diagram a part (35) that seams to be a holding bracket for the canister.
if it will fit over the block plate it would be perfect. I will order it an report back.
For a mount, worst case scenario you can keep number 8 from the diagram above and just plug the two holes in the part and use that as your block off plate.
Softronic Software flashed my DME for 3.4 to 3.8L
I believe it was based on a 997 fuel trim map, etc. The SAI was disabled in the binary as well.
For easy future access, and in case of vacuum leaks, I moved the canister and the switch to where the SAI pump used to be.
Changeover valve #2 (in photo below). I kept all the wiring as if the SAI system was present because at the time, I didn't know if the re-worked DME binary from Softronic required the electronics to be present. I never tested unplugging the solenoid to confirm no CELs. But I can tell you, there's no CEL with it plugged in.

Thanks for sharing Doug.
I also read in other places that the valve needs to stay. i plan on removing it and block the connector with a dummy plug.
Once the system is remove it doesn't make any sense that the solenoid valve should stay or affect the system in any way.
I hope I'm not wrong, but i will try to keep the connector somewhat accessible under the intake just in case.
I guess we will find out after I'm done with the reassembly and the ROW flush.
Nice garage BTW
Just to close the loop on this in case someone will be looking for the information.
here is the bracket I used to hold the vacuum canister.
and that is the orientation it seats on top of the blocking plate.
