I thought everyone might find this interesting. Below is the original C&D review for the 1965 Porsche 911. 1965 Porsche 911 Test Some things I found interesting: The car was Just below $60K adjusted for inflation It used carbs instead of fuel injection. I think FI was being used on race cars by then MPG: 16/24. I'm surprised they even talked about it I always thought the tires were too narrow on these. They thought the same thing 2376 lbs/148 HP gives 16 lbs/HP. the standard 996 is around 10 0-60: 7 seconds 1/4 mile 15.6 sec Top speed 130 MPH 4 Wheel disc brakes. I didn't know anything outside of a race car had 4 wheel disc brakes back then They were already raving about the handling The use of the word "bug" for an issue. I know the word has been around since the 40's but surprised that a non-computer person used it way back then Absent of talk about tech advances (carburetors, distributors...) I'd believe this was written yesterday. The almost 60 year old writing doesn't seem out of place today

4 Wheel disc brakes. I didn't know anything outside of a race car had 4 wheel disc brakes back then I believe the 65 corvette had them as standard equipment as well.

Yeah, I had it in my head that 4 wheel disc brakes didn't start gaining real traction until at least the mid 70s. The 911 and the 'Vette have always been competitive so this stands to reason. On the other hand, I though high end sports cars were using fuel injection by this time.
