Performed · outcome unconfirmed

The C2 fender liners do not align with the turbo bumper mounting locations, probably using the turbo parts the best fix here, I use some jerry rigging of the C2 parts so it can be done, but you'll need the factory parts for an OE look.

Suggestion

I think the factory may make an extension piece for the AE cars but it was easier for me to just cut the section I needed off the carrera bumper and use a combo of bolts and zip ties to get the bottom of the bumper to the tub mounting points.

The turbo bumper uses a different headlight trim, I don't run it so not much help other than to say if you're looking for an OE look, you will need to figure that out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm trying to find compatible bumper covers for my 996.2 Targa. (2003 996 Targa Coupe) Same body as the Carrera. It seems there are some small differences in the front end on the first series 996. Also I'm wondering if the Turbo front end will bolt right on. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated. Or if there is an old thread I missed please inform me. Regards Pfaff

POST 2Original post

@zbomb did the turbo conversion on his .2, maybe hell jump in and answer questions.

The Turbo bumper will bolt on but takes parts and work for full integration. 1. The bottom of the turbo bumper will not extend far enough to reach the bottom the the carrera tub mounting locations. I think the factory may make an extension piece for the AE cars but it was easier for me to just cut the section I needed off the carrera bumper and use a combo of bolts and zip ties to get the bottom of the bumper to the tub mounting points. I thought I had a picture of this but can't find it. 2. The Turbo bumpers supposedly will not fit with the C2 crash bar. The C2 piece will either need to be shortened, the turbo bar added or the bar deleted. I don't run a crash bar so no help here. 3. The radiator ducts should be changed to turbo variants, the C2 ducts are only open to about about half of the turbo bumper radiator openings. 4. The turbo bumper uses a different headlight trim, I don't run it so not much help other than to say if you're looking for an OE look, you will need to figure that out. 5. The C2 fender liners do not align with the turbo bumper mounting locations, probably using the turbo parts the best fix here, I use some jerry rigging of the C2 parts so it can be done, but you'll need the factory parts for an OE look. I think thats about it.
