Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have my interior stripped out and the dash cover off. I now want to tackle fixing the heat problem I have (as in I have no heat) . Does anyone have the instructions for how to remove the evaporator box (or whatever it is called) to get at the blend door? Cheers

POST 3Original post

Do a search. Someone just went through this a week or so ago.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They cut into it. I want to remove it entirely.

That works! Thanks Ahsai. Maybe now I can fix my heater issue once and for all!

POST 7Original post

If I was all the way into this project, entire dash removed and pulling out the HVAC box, I would not be covering up those holes in the blend doors with any foam or tape. That will only go bad again after several years. i would be making solid plates and riveting them on the blend doors. Problem solved forever!

Hello Jim010, Looks like I'm following in your footsteps. I have a 996.2 dash I'll be swapping into my '99 996.1. How did you resolve the HVAC box?

POST 10Original post

The hvac box is identical. The harness and servos r slightly different. I swapped the mk2 harmes and stuff onto my mk1 box and it all transfers. Not sure if that helps?

If you mean the ducting in the centre stack, I grafted the 996.2 duct onto the existing duct. See here in this thread, starting on post 142: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-996-a-10.html
