Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have not opened my sunroof in some time on my 2005 C4S due to the hot Texas summer. However, today with temps in the 70's , I hit the button only to hear a loud bang as the sunroof opened. This happened at about 1/3 the way back. I tried it several times and there is always a very loud bang when opening. Once it gets past that point, it operates flawlessly and opens the rest of the way, and closes without a problem. Any ideas?

POST 3Original post

Likely the wind blocker at the front is sticking down, then suddenly flipping up instead of opening smoothly with the roof. With the roof open after the bang reach up and feel for the blocker push down on it. It's spring loaded so it might pop up abruptly.

Thanks for your reply. I went to look at my car and the sunroof is partially open. The wind blocker is up and I'm apply to push it down and have it pop up. Also, my bang is about a third to half way back...not immediately after I open it. Am I missing something?

POST 5Original post

The blocker maybe up however if you push it down does it stick. That would be your bang when it abruptly opens.

No, when I push it down it pops back up without resistance. I assume that is how it is suppose to work?

Your correct if it's not sticking down then you will have to dig deeper. Mine was sticking sometimes and would make that bang noise so I hoped yours was as simple.

Not sure where to turn other than my local Porsche dealer. Other ideas?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yesterday, I decided to try opening the sunroof vent and then closing it. I did this and then opened the sunroof completely. NO BANG! I don't know if there was some issue with the vent no closing properly the last time I used it or what? In any case, I have used the sunroof several times and it works flawlessly! Thanks for all the tips!

I really hoped this was going to be a Penthouse Forums type thread.
