Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also had a single mass flywheel/clutch fitted too.
Leading evidence: 'Install too' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install too' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I thought I may have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
My OAT (outside air temp) readout suddenly stopped working for reasons unknown...
It shows the OAT at start up/ignition on, but as soon as the engine starts, its vanishes?
I also don't seem to have, or be able to control/find the on-board trip computer. From the manual is says control of the menu is done via the cruise control stick, but no input from this source gives any access to anything other than the cruise control settings.
Thanks for reading!
Ideas anyone...?
Andrew
Hi
Yes, that'd be fairly important info to have!
Its a 1998 (yes, 98, we got them a year earlier than the US) C2 cab. with 115000kms - and on its 2nd IMS too!
Thoughts?
Andrew
So you chickened out and probably removed a perfectly pristine double race IMS for a single race ims (which ultimately failed) CORRECT?
The computer is under the drivers seat.
Well, the original IMS was replaced by the 1st owner, who also had nikkies fitted and made it a 3.6.
When I got it earlier this year I was advised by many that the IMS needed replacing after 4 years of use regardless of distance driven...
So I decided to do it again as per the advise. I also had a single mass flywheel/clutch fitted too.
The car goes great, pulls very hard and with the new CarGraphic headers/exhaust and EVOMS CAI, it sounds incredible!
Back to the OAT - I know where the actual computer is located, I just don't seem to have any control over it and what it displays. One day the OAT worked, the next day, not so much... I thought I may have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere.
Am I right in thinking that the cruise control stick is the one to use?

I wouldn't imagine that the cruise control arm has anything to do with the OAT display. Could it have to do with bad pixels on the display screen. You say:- 'One day the OAT worked, the next day,
not so much'
... I would have to ask advice at a Porsche Garage if it happened on my car. Have you tried tracing back the cable from the OAT part from the front of the car? Has a connection come loose along the way?
The OBC stalk is the one below the turn signal stalk on cars so equipped. You can cycle through the displayed info by moving the stalk up and down, and you select a function by pressing the buttons.
Since the temperature is there before the car is started, I'm disinclined to think the display is bad.
Is it really necessary to be that dickish to a total stranger, especially given your utter fail at comprehending his post?
